Does your diet affect acne?

Does it eating too much greasy food or fatty stuff give you acne or is this just a myth?
Acne is a very common skin condition that is caused by inflammation inside skin pores. These pores in the skin produce an oil called sebum. Young people begin producing this oil around the time of puberty and continue producing it through most of their adult lives. Its production is stimulated by hormones produced by the body during this time. These pores are surrounded by a substance called keratin. When enough of this keratin builds up, it can block the pores allowing bacteria to grow inside and produce a pimple. There was a time when we thought that diet played a significant role in the production of these pimples. We now know that diet plays very little role at all if any. Thus eating too much greasy foot or fatty stuff will not give you acne. It's just a myth. I suggest that you schedule an appointment with your primary care physician to discuss acne if it is an issue for you. There are lots of great treatments that can be purchased over the counter or prescribed by your doctor. If these fail or to not adequately control your acne, there are other options that can be prescribed by a dermatologist that will work well.
