Dr. Ian Mapes DDS

like most people, i am scared of the dentist, however, this experience was a 10+. the hygienist was thorough and patient with my fear and Dr. Mapes was kind, honest and answered all my questions. I will be seeing Dr. Mapes again, and will now consider him my Dentist. thanks again!

He was extremely short, maybe because the appointment was prepaid, he wasn't really listening and just said he couln'd get a perfect result, but I don't really want fake looking teeth, he wasn't interested in explaining.

Pain free deep cleaning and the numbness wore off by the time I got more - great!

Very nice and thorough job. Came out with my teeth being very clean, and knowing a lot more than when I came in. The dental hygienist was also very good and informative.

The Doc was very thorough with my examination he explained & answered all the 100 questions I asked :) His assistant & receptionist were very pleasent & helpful.

My son said that was his best Dentist experience.

I liked the location, the design and cleanliness of the place. I thought that the staff seemed sincere and the girl that cleaned my teeth (with bangs) was really great and gave me some great tips. Dr. Mapes was nice and personable and I'll stick with this place in the future.

Really great first experience. Not too much chit chat and wasn't super cold, just right! The office is designed well and the equipment is new and nice. Netflix was queued up on the TV so I suppose you could have put in a request if you wanted. Rest of the team was very good too.

I've had a number of procedures after finding Dr Mapes through ZocDoc. I feel really lucky, since I don't know anyone who would recommend their dentist. Dr. Mapes and the staff are professional, kind, and informative. I can be a pain wanting to know everything about the procedures I'm undergoing and all of the alternatives (bit of a Dr. Google am I), and Dr. Mapes gladly and patiently explains everything. I recommend him highly - even though I'll be moving to JC soon, I will still come to Wmsburg to see him!

My boyfriend has a big fear of dentists(so much so that I had to go with him to his appointment.) He said this was the first time he's been to the dentist when it wasn't at all painful. I went for a routine cleaning. His office is incredibly nice, and staff more than pleasant and informative. Mapes did a thorough teeth exam looking for problem areas. He found a couple and comfortably explained (using digital images and Xrays taken on the spot) what the issues were, and what could be done. Then the cleaning went totally fine, and i was then told about their extraordinary in-office dental plan, that i'm going to sign up for in lieu of me not having dental insurance. All in all, awesome.

I have been with Dr. Mapes for almost 2 years and couldn't imagine seeing another professional. Flexible, positive and informative demeanor every time. From cleanings, to check-ups, to whitening to 6 month smile (braces), he is a great Dentist.

The office was beautiful, and the staff - excellent.

Today was the 3rd time my teenage son visited Dr.Mapes. He has his braces put on. Even though he hates the idea of wearing braces, my son really likes Dr.Mapes and his bedside manners. So far so good. Thumbs up!

He was really great. I was nervous because I haven't been to a dentist in a really long time, but he made me feel comfortable and relaxed. He was fast, attentive and a nice guy. The office is nice, high-tech and cool. Plus the $99 cleaning/xray deal was what sold me in the first place. Plus they have a payment plan, which is nice. I've already recommended my friends to see him. Thank you!

There is not much I can say about Ian Mapes, DDS by just seeing him once. He was very nice and so was his staff. They were all professional and pleasant to deal with. The doctor took time to explain the procedure and then he answered my questions promptly via email when I had some follow up inquires regarding the procedure we discussed. I am new to ZocDoc so I am not sure how the feedback feature works. I am hoping, it will let me leave a follow up feedback once the procedure I chose for my teenage son is complete, since it is hard to tell whether you would or would not recommend a professional at this stage of the game. For now, he does get my thumbs up!

5 stars hands down. Dr. Mapes is great, his office is state of the art, and the whole check in, check out process was as smooth as can be. Highly recommended and will definitely be my go-to for dental problems.
