Dr. Richard Ekstein DMD, FACP

Professional Statement

Dr. Ekstein graduated in 1985, where he received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, N.J. He spent two years in private practice in New Jersey. In 1987, Dr. Ekstein returned from graduate training in Prosthodontics at Fairleigh Dickinson University Dental School in Hackensack where he received his specialty degree in Prosthodontics, specializing in complex dental and cosmetic reconstruction. Prosthodontics is one of only nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.

Upon receiving his Prosthodontic degree in 1989, Dr. Ekstein worked for Norman Reich in Whitestone, New York for 3 years; Kearny, New Jersey for 20 years as a partner of The Smile Center; and now in his private practice in North Arlington NJ. His expertise significantly enhances his ability to treat complex cosmetic dental reconstruction cases successfully.

In December 2009, Dr. Ekstein successfully completed the certification process,of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and is now Board Certified in Prosthodontics. Currently, there are only 14 Board Certified Prosthodontic Diplomates in the state of New Jersey. The Smile Design Specialist team is extremely proud of Dr. Ekstein and his prestigious accomplishment.

Thanks to this additional education and training, Dr. Ekstein is most skilled in diagnosis, treatment planning and restorative procedures such as replacement of broken, worn, or decayed teeth with crowns, veneers or inlays; placement of implant crowns and prostheses; replacement of missing teeth with bridges; fabricating removable dentures and the management of TMJ disorders and bruxism.
