Dr. Schaffner completed his plastic surgery residency in Michigan as well as a fellowship in advanced facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in California, during which he was a member of the medical staff of Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Schaffner currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Weill Cornell Medical College in Manhattan. Previously, Dr. Schaffner served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Georgetown University School of Medicine and was a member of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. During his tenure at Georgetown, Dr. Schaffner worked with one of the nation's leading plastic surgeons to refine his skills in advanced aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, body, and face. Prior to becoming a plastic surgeon, Dr. Schaffner practiced as a board certified facial plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist - head and neck surgeon.

Dr. Schaffner has been interviewed on Good Morning America as an expert in facial plastic surgery. He has served as a faculty member at numerous courses on facial plastic surgery, including three at Stanford. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. He is listed in the Guide to America's Top Surgeons by the Consumers' Research Council of America, America's Cosmetic Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd., Marquis Who's Who in America, Marquis Who's Who in the World, and Marquis Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
