Dr. Amsterdam received her B.A. from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Between receiving her undergraduate degree and entering medical school, Dr. Amsterdam spent three years working in clinical trials at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She went on to receive her M.D. from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where she was inducted into the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. She completed internship at the New York University Downtown Hospital and residency at the New York University Medical Center, both in New York City. Immediately afterwards, she returned to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where she completed a two year fellowship in women’s health in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. During that time, she co-authored several articles focusing on the general medical care of cancer patients, survivors, and those at increased-risk for malignancy. Dr. Amsterdam has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine since 2003 and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Due to her efforts, in early 2010 Manhattan Internal Medicine, PLLC was accepted into the New York City Department of Health’s prestigious Primary Care Information Project. In her spare time, Dr. Amsterdam teaches students and house-staff with Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service and has been an avid photographer for over twenty years.
