I completed my residency from the University of Vermont in Burlington in 2003. Although, a generalized approach to psychotherapy was taught in my third year, I felt my clients were only marginally improving at best using this modality. Fortunately in my fourth year, I had the opportunity to train in Cognitive Behavior Therapy under the supervision of Alan Budney Ph.D. Utilizing a structured approach to anxiety, my clients level of tranquility was restored and their level of interpersonal, academic, and professional function and satisfaction was significantly increased.
After residency, I worked as the psychiatrist to the students at UVM and enjoyed my time there, but was ready to return to Maryland. I have worked at several outpatient offices in the area in Eldersburg, Owings Mills, and Columbia but was forced into an assembly line med management way of treating clients which I believe to be less than ideal. As a consequence, I have opened two offices, one in Columbia and one in Baltimore to facilitate a more collaborative and clinically sound approach to mental health. I have been practicing at the Columbia office for several years and the results have been great!
Friendly an informative.
How refreshing to visit a doctor that truly seemed to work towards a diagnosis by asking me appropriate questions. I felt he actually LISTENED to me, which will lead to an accurate diagnosis and treatment. He seems knowledgeable about medications and their effect on the body which is very important to me. The stuffiness and arrogance of some doctors makes me nervous, but he immediately put me at ease to talk because he seemed intelligent but approachable.
