More about Dr. Brock Karben, OD
Dr. Karben received his B.S. in Biology from Washington State University and obtained his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University. His varied experience while on clinical rotations allows Dr. Karben to manage his patients to the highest standards, while still providing quality care to each individual patient. Dr. Karben joined the staff of EyeHealth Northwest in 2009.
While Dr. Karben grew up locally in Ridgefield, Washington, he still enjoys traveling as much as possible. He has made several trips to Indonesia, the latest to provide eye care for underserved populations. When home, Dr. Karben values spending time with his family and enjoys being an uncle.
In his time off, Dr. Karben tries to take full advantage of all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. He spends most of his free time outdoors. Depending on the season, you can find him rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, wakeboarding, or snowboarding. In the summer months Dr. Karben can be found prowling the mountain streams with fly rod in hand or sampling one of the many great microbrews that Portland has to offer.

Dr. Karben was fine - I have no issues with the care I received from him.
The rest of the staff was unprofessional, and while no identifying information was overheard, they were talking poorly about other patients and repeatedly bad-mouthed the clinic's other location. They were eager to leave work at the end of the day. It made for an uncomfortable and awkward visit. I will not be going back.

I really loved the my one on one Dr. Karben and I would go back just for that reason. However one of is front staff member's on the other hand makes me never want to go back! I had made my appt thru ZocDoc for a 4:30pm slot. I arrived at the office a couple minutes before my appt as I had already completed my forms online and she proceeded to tell me that my appt had been re-scheduled because I did not show up on time! She stated that my appt was for 4:20pm NOT 4:30pm. I showed her the 2 text reminders I received showing that my appt was at 4:30pm. She then told me that if I made it thru ZocDoc that they were having issues with patient's being scheduled for times that were not available but since their 5pm cancelled they would see me. Like I said, if it wasn't for the kindness I received from the doctor and other to front desk ladies I would not have said for my appt nor would I have made a follow up one!

Dr. Karben was very personable and professional, and I highly recommend him! I'm a long-time patient of Eye Health Northwest, but this was my first visit to the North Lombard location--my usual doctor was all booked up for a month, and I didn't feel like waiting that long for an appointment. Luckily Dr. Karben had an opening the same week, and based on my visit I'd be as happy to go back to him in the future as to my usual doctor (who I've seen for 20 years).

I would highly recommend these folks. The personal service and treatment is top notch, especially compared to the big "box" stores ie. America's Best. I finally have found my go to optometrist. Thank you for a great experience!!!

Great doctor! This was a great experience and my first attempt at finding an eye doctor in PDX.
Also, the wait wasn't long. This included all my new patient paperwork. Easy, friendly, all in all great.
