Dr. Christopher Raffo is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon in practice in the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C., who specializes in the care of adult and pediatric athletic injuries. Dr. Raffo practices at Maryland Orthopedic Specialists, with offices in Bethesda and Germantown.
Dr. Raffo is also board certified in Sports Medicine, a certification offered only to board-certified orthopedic surgeons that are fellowship trained and have a predominantly sports medicine practice.
Dr. Raffo completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Georgetown University. He completed an additional year of fellowship training in Sports Medicine and advanced arthroscopic (minimally invasive) techniques for shoulder and knee surgery, at the prestigious New England Baptist Hospital, a Harvard affiliate hospital.
As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Raffo is trained in advanced arthroscopic techniques of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He has a special interest in arthroscopic shoulder procedures, all-arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff tears and instability, and arthroscopic treatment of ligamentous, meniscal and cartilage disorders of the knee.
Dr. Raffo is currently the head team physician for several area high schools. He is the head team physician for the Catholic University Cardinals.
