I provide psychotherapy with the option of medication and other integrative treatments for anxiety, depression, and stresses related to relationships, work,
illness, and other life challenges. I believe my patients experience me as warm, open, collaborative, interactive, humble, and very accessible. As my patient, I would help you identify treatment goals, and then work with you to achieve these goals by together making sense of your feelings and helping you to realize new freedom in your life.
For patients who are already in therapy, I also provide adjunctive medication treatment. I am very sensitive to the fears and hesitations that people have when considering medication. As a psycho-pharmacologist, I will want to get to know you well and work collaboratively with your therapist. In this role I am both thorough and cautious. When necessary, I am also innovative. I am experienced with a broad array of treatments, so we can find what works, and equally importantly, we will simplify and take away what is not necessary. I sometimes recommend well-researched alternatives to prescription medicine, including light therapy, nutrients, breathing techniques, yoga, and meditation.
I trained in psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center where I am now on faculty. I also completed advanced specialization in couple and family therapy at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. In addition to private practice, I am the psychiatrist for students at the Juilliard School. I also teach psychiatrists-in-training.

Dr Sherman is a great doctor and person. He is a really good listener and keen observer. He respected my time and budget by not wasting anytime and fully disclosing his billing policy. I highly recommend Dr Sherman if anyone is serious about getting better. He does not accept any insurance policies as far as I know which could be a burden to some. If money is not a problem Dr Sherman is a great choice.

He is just the absolute best. I can't say enough great things about him. He is flexible and allowed me to continue sessions on Skype when I moved out of the area. Definitely recommend him!
