Dr. Dennis Plante MD, FACEP is
board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has been practicing emergency medicine since 1984.
Originally from Massachusetts, he did his undergraduate studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and went to medical school at the Boston University School of Medicine. He moved to Texas in 1984 to do an Emergency Medicine internship and residency at Fort Hood,Texas where he remained on staff as an educator and later as the Chief of the Emergency Department / Residency Program. He was also affiliated with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine holding a position as assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine.
In 1991, after returning from serving in Desert Storm, he left the Army and academic medicine, and has called Waco his home since. He worked at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center until 2010 both as an attending physician, and for a while, as the Director of the Emergency Department. Since July 2010 he has been an attending physician at the Providence Hospital Emergency Department in Waco. Other Emergency Departments where he has worked on a part-time basis include John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Metroplex Hospital in Killeen and Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. He looks forward to bringing his expertise in Emergency Medicine to the Texan Urgent Care System.
