Dr. Donna Gievers-Zuniga is a female, bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) doctor who has been practicing in the DC/ metropolitan area since 2002. After working in a group practice setting for eight years, she decided to go solo in order to bring back that “hometown” feel to her practice. Dr. Gievers-Zuniga’s biggest testament to her services is her innumerous satisfied patients.
Dr. Gievers-Zuniga is originally from Miami, Florida and graduated from Tulane University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. She then went on to graduate from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, which is part of the prestigious Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (home to the Chicago Medical School) in 1999. She was extremely active in her class, serving as secretary of her class and both Secretary and Vice President of the Illinois Student Medical Student Association. In 2002, she completed a competitive three-year surgical residency program at the Washington Hospital Center in DC which included her serving as Chief Resident of Podiatric Surgery in 2002. Her training included general foot conditions, diabetic limb salvage, plastic and reconstructive surgery and specialty rotations at Children’s National Medical Center and at the Pima Indian Reservation in Phoenix, Arizona. (The Pimas have one of the highest populations of Type II diabetics in the world and are studied by groups such as NIH). She became Board Certified in foot surgery in 2006 with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
Dr. Gievers-Zuniga’s hobbies include running, international traveling and dancing. She climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 1997 with her mother whose trip helped raise $30,000 for Florida foster children.
Dr.Gievers-Zuniga is very thorough and compassionate. She took the time to listen to everything I had to say and told me her thoughts as to how she might be able to help me. I would definitely recommend her to family and friends.
Dr. Gievers-Zuniga was very nice and knowledgeable! She was very pleasant and she took her time explaining everything. As a diabetic I am very pleased to have found her. I would definitely recommend her to others. I did have to wait about 40 min to see her, but it was well worth the wait!!! I will absolutely be keeping her as my Dr.
Awesome! She was able to fit me in on the same day and her office had an x-ray system right there...so no extra appointments. Her assistants were great also. They fitted me in the same appointment with my new "robo-boot"...LOL!
