Dr. Edith McCarthy is the founder of Care Intensive Pediatrics, PLLC, a pediatric practice specializing in providing "intensive" medical care for infants and
children who required neonatal intensive care, for reasonssuch as premature birth or other neonatal issues. Her goal is to set the standard in high-risk infant/child care in an effort to enhance the lives of these children and their families.
A practicing physician for 12 years, Dr. McCarthy is board-certified in both Pediatric Medicine and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine with faculty appointments at NYU Medical Center and New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. McCarthy was appointed Instructor of Pediatrics and served as the Child Protection Representative for New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center where she became the first clinical director of The Children’s Advocacy Center of Manhattan, coordinating the investigation of physical or sexual abuse of children
Dr. McCarthy served for six years as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine, where she was in charge of critically ill newborns in the NICU at both NYU and Bellevue Hospitals. During this time, she also published her research results on the early medical treatment of osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease) in newborns using bisphosphonates
