George A. Castro, MD is a model for the 21st Century doctor. He is first and foremost a physician, specializing in all aspects of Internal, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Castro currently serves as the Associate Program Director of the Latino Health Institute at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. The institute is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of Latinos in New York City. It is a partnership between Beth Israel Medical Center and Itzamna Medical Center. In addition to helping establish the Latino Health Institute, Dr. Castro serves as the co-director of the Itzamna Medical Center, a multi-disciplinary outpatient medical center he co-founded in 2001. He also serves as its Clinical Lab Director and Director of its Pulmonary Function and Metabolic Laboratory.
