Dr. John Chuey MD

Excellent doctor, straight answers to questions. My kind of doctor. After I signed in, I was brought to the exam room in less than 15 minutes. The interview took about 10 minutes, answers to concerns may have taken another 5 minutes. I got the Shingles shot after, it was explained that the incidence without, would increase as one gets older.

This was my first visit to the Beth Israel Medical Center and with Doctor Chuey. The staff was nice and helpful. Doctor Chuey was really professional and courteous. I highly recommend the Beth Israel Medical Center and Doctor Chuey!

Great doc and great office. I usually am seen quicker than I was this time but that's okay, I was able to make an appt for the very next day using this service (and with my normal doctor) so I can't complain.

First time at Beth Israel Medical. I had a 12noon appointment I was seen by the doctor at 12:05pm. That is amazing. The office looks like it is well run, efficient, staff were friendly.

Have been looking for a regular physician in the city for a while. Dr. Chuey is the second of the Beth Israel staff I've seen and both were wonderful doctors and seamless experiences. Both of them answered all my questions and got me in and out. I highly recommend Dr. Chuey and the whole group.

He is a smart, concerned physician who patiently answers questions and tries to help.

I've been seeing Dr Chuey for a few years and he is great. He asks the right questions and listens well. Easy to get an appointment when I'm sick, sometimes I can even walk in. The new office is wait idyl and high tech.

Very savy. Lots of patience. Takes his time going over your medical history. Gives you great health recommendations and give you great referrals to other great doctors in other fields.

The entire staff was very courteous and professional. I was seen almost exactly at my appointment time. Dr. Chuey explored all the possibilities and spent time asking probing questions to learn more about what my issue was.

Dr. Chuey was friendly and straight forward. The nurse staff were all very nice, and the new facilities on W 23 are great. However, I had an appointment and I still had to wait 40 minutes before I was taken back to the exam room.

Very knowledgeable and candid responses to my question. The staff was great too. Wait was a tad longer than I expected, but I was a new patient. I noticed a lot of walk-ins while I was there who were treated quickly, which was promising if I hadn't been able to make an appointment

My visit with Dr. Chuey was quite great(especially for a first visit). He had excellent patient care and seemed very interested in preventative care which is quite rare(in the states)! The new facilities(Beth Israel Medical Group) were beyond what I expected- who says a medical office has to be pea green?

As usual, Dr Chuey was professional and understanding. He listened to my concerns and worked with me to agree on a solution. The new offices are clean, spacious and seem highly functional. I like being able to make my appt online though I am not happy that my attempt to make an appt on the phone was a total failure (15 min on hold then cut off). The wait period was much less than in the old space.

Our visit with Dr Chuey overall was excellent. He is very thorough and professional in his manner . The offices are impeccable and the support staff were helpful and efficient. I felt we were in very capable hands. I would not hesitate to recommend this doctors services.

Dr. Chuey is an excellent doctor whom I've been seeing for more than a decade. The new Beth Israel offices are beautiful, but it still takes forever to been seen (even with an appointment). I wish I could see Dr. Chuey somewhere else, but he's so good that I continue to choose to put up with Beth Israel to see him.

Dr. Chuey was highly recommended by a friend, and whilst I thought he was extremely professional, and the visit was rather pleasant, it was overshadowed by the fact that the receptionists were rude and unprofessional. They were not very kind, and appeared rather disorganized. If you're not feeling well, these receptionists are probably not the first people you would want to see when walking into the clinic. After asking me to sit down to fill out forms, they then asked me to come back to the counter for my identification (rather than asking for it when I arrived), then asked me to sit back down to fill out the forms, and then asked me back again for forms that I had already filled out. Why they didn't just wait till I finished, or asked for all this information upfront I don't know. They also didn't seem to like that I was standing there waiting for my ID to be returned to me, when I thought it was perfectly alright that I fill out forms whilst waiting for them to photocopy my ID. Then they had the audacity to roll their eyes to each other, in front of me when I didn't want to sit back down, and then I overheard one of the receptionists talking about me to another receptionist after my appointment ended. I don't know how they can run an office with such an unprofessional environment, but whilst I liked the doctor and the clinic, I honestly don't know if I can go back because the receptionists were so rude.

Dr. Chuey is a brilliant physician with a very kind and engaging disposition. I actually look forward to my trip to the doctor - how many people can say that? :)

the medical assistant needs re-training. Calling for a patient in a loud voice across the lobby is rude. Not introducing herself is rude. "Bedside" manner is indifferent Place is so large, I feel like I am in a hangar with no environmental appeal

A friend recommended Dr. Chuey and I couldn't have been more pleased. He is a great communicator as well as a great listener. Highly professional and personable.

He's a smart guy, but a bit more hands-on, verses sitting in a chair, is helpful. I appreciate that he needs to use a laptop. But patients like to know the doctor is listening 100%. Few of us can multitask. And the personal touch, the sense of genuine caring, is priceless.

Was seen about 10 min after I arrived. The wait time in between finishing up with Dr. Chuey and then starting my various tests was too long. They may have been overworked with lots of patients, but I was so happy with being called in so quickly that I was a little let down with the entire process taking 1 hr 45 minutes. It was a physical so I guess next year I'll know that a physical does not mean in and out quickly.

Poor. I made the appointment because he refused to refill a prescription medication I've been taking for 21 years unless I came in to see him. I could not do that because I was in jury duty. As a result, i went for a week without my medication. I lost two days of work from my lack of meds and suffered anxiety and sleep loss. His manner is very nice and he seems bright but his inexperience was damaging. This man was the first doctor in 21 years who refused to refill a medication of mine in an emergency.

Dr. Chuey is a courteous professional, but unfortunately the wait time at this office is making me consider going elsewhere. After waiting about 45 minutes I saw the doctor for about 5 minutes.

I have been a patient of Dr Chuey's for several years, and only have good things to say about him. I have recommended him to several of my friends/coworkers over the years.

When is not rushed, he's awesome.

DR CHUEY WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN ACTUALLY SAVING MY LIFE ON MY LAST VISIT. MY OXYGEN LEVEL WAS EXTEMELY LOW AND MY BREATHING WAS LABORED. AFTER EXAMING ME CLOSELY HE CALLED AN AMBULANCE AND I WAS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL WHERE I REMAINED FOR 8 DAYS. HE IS CERTAINLY AN ASTUTE AND HIGHLY SKILLED PHYCIAN WHAT ELSE CAN YOU ASK FOR IN A DOCTOR???

waited for over 45 min for Dr Chuey.

I had a very simple skin rash and Dr. Chuey had absolutely no idea what the problem was. He merely referred me to a dermatologist. However, he insisted I take blood and took a swath of the rash. I never heard back on the results and now need to call to find out the results.

Impressed with the short wait time! I was seen right away, and the nurses + the doc themselves were all wonderful. My blood drawing hurt way more than usual, but she was so nice about it, and my other shots were brilliantly administered. If I didn't already have a regular doc, I'd go back to these guys!

Upsetting when a doctor does not listen to his patient to try and understand where they are coming from or what they are saying. I will never recommend him, he is just pompous and arrogant!

I was visiting to update my vaccinations for an imminent trip to Africa. He was very responsible and after checking my vaccination record, assured me everything was in order, rather than blithely assuming I'd need boosters and thus run up a bill. Highly recommended! Also, he was nice.

Dr Chuey was efficient and knowledgeable but didn't really listen well and had pathologically no bedside manner. I was seen and examined in approx 4 minutes though his dx and tx protocol was accurate

He's terrific. He explains things carefully and is always up to date on recent research.

I appreciate that he tracks our visits and always asks me if I have questions. Unfortunately, for my 5-7 minutes with him, I spend more time waiting to get to a patient room and then waiting after the nurse does the usual checks, then he arrives, then I wait again for the next nurse. But, I go there knowing that's what it will be like.

I've arrived at 8:35am for my 8:45am appointment. A walk in person arrived 2 minute before me and was allowed in to see the doctor first before me at my appointment time. The doctor said they never received the appointment I've made with ZocDoc for that morning.I should bring a printout of my appt from ZocDoc. I will NOT make any further appointments through ZocDoc and go in as a walk in patient from now on.

On my first appointment, he was quick and was very professional. He read the chart thoroughly and didn't waste the patient's time.

I've seen Dr. Chuey for well over ten years now and he is always attentive and proactive. But, even with an appointment, a visit for simple blood work can take an hour and a half and one just has to allow for that in this particular practice. it's sort of the trade off for the convenience of having a 24/7 office that allows walk ins when you're sick. Dr Chuey has been my doc for 14 years and as a doc myself, I can say he's top notch. I had a sensitive problem to discuss with him and he was not only super-attentive, but totally un-rushed and sympathetic. He led me through a series of tests which he described in details, and that's something you rarely get from a busy doctor. I have never seen any other doctors before except my colleagues, as I am generally super healthy, but when I need him he's always available.

never pleasant when you're waiting for more than an hour in a tiny room by yourself...i still have not received results of my blood test that was taken about 2 weeks ago. when i spoke with the assistant they didnt even know that i had a blood test.

Dr. John Chuey has been my primary care physician for almost a decade, and was also my father's PCP. He is sagacious (“brilliant” possibly being a more apt description), business-like (in the best ways, i.e. forward-thinking, gets the job done, etc.) and never forgets to be genuinely caring. Specialists to whom Dr. Chuey refers me -- when I need them -- oft only "confirm" for me what Dr. Chuey has already discerned. I believe that the care that Dr. Chuey gave to my father was one of the most significant reasons that my dad, who suffered with multiple medical conditions for almost 15 years, lived as long as he did, and had a better quality of life than anyone would have expected.

Dr. Chuey was thorough and professional during my annual physical. He listened to me, asked the right questions, and followed up promptly within the week with a personal phone call to discuss my blood test results. I recommend him highly. Both my wife and I are his patients and we are happy to have found such a great doctor!

Great Doctor. My younger brother and I have been going to him for several years. HOWEVER, appointment scheduling needs major revamp, Or maybe the office staff do not like people who make their appointment thru zocdoc? Bottomline - Waiting for an appointment longer than an hour is not an appointment. I had to reschedule my appointment after waiting more than an hour. Got there 10 minutes ahead of my 11am appointment, and after being told it would only be ten more minutes every time I asked - I finally had to leave by noon time.

As always, Dr. Chuey was professional and thorough. I would recommend to anyone.

I did not think he gave his full attention to me after a waiting almost an hour. A couple simple questions and done!

i have been returning to dr. chuey since i moved to nyc eleven years ago. he's great in every way particularly in hearing me out if i disagree or question him about some procedure or recommendation. there's a good rapport that makes me feel safe and in good hands with someone who is understanding.

Dr. Chuey has been my PCP for years (at least 6) and he is awesome. He takes the time to speak with you and to somewhat troubleshoot your aliments without making you feel like you’re being melodramatic (which unfortunately a lot of doctors do.) Additionally, he always makes sure your informed about your medications that were prescribed as well as letting you know if you have question he is available to speak with you. Now over the years the person at the front desk has varied but they also seem to have the same callous rude demeanor.. but this is about Dr. Chuey not them.
