After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Heffez received his medical degree from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA. As a resident in Ophthalmology at Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, LA, he was honored as Chief Resident of his class. Dr. Heffez completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and was awarded a scholarship in the Mentoring in Ophthalmology Fellows Program. He has significantly contributed to numerous scientific publications; is active in several instructional courses, lectures, and workshops; and is currently involved in clinical research as well as resident and fellow education at the Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center Ophthalmology program. Dr. Heffez is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

Thorough and completely professional
I was very impressed with Dr. Heffez. He seems to be very knowledgeable and was extremely professional. He gave me a very thorough eye examination and also gave me some things to be aware of and to monitor in reference to my visit. He briefed me on what to do should certain things occur...I was very impressed with that...I have never had a doctor explain to me "what to do" should something specific occurred. I highly recommend Dr. Heffez.
