Dr. Hermansen has been in private practice in Northern Virginia since 1980. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1972 from the Medical College of Virginia. She practiced pharmacy while continuing her education. In 1976, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia. A surgical internship was completed at University Hospital of Case-Western Reserve in Cleveland in 1977. Otolaryngology training was completed at Yale - New Haven Hospital. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the local and state medical societies. Dr.
Hermansen served as Chief of the Otolaryngology Section at Fairfax Hospital from 1990-1993.
Dr. Hermansen's practice includes head and neck surgery, salivary gland diseases, ear and hearing disorders, nasal and sinus disease. She has a special interest in pediatric and adult general otolaryngology and sinus disease and its treatment.
