Her care focuses on preventative health. She assesses body mass index (BMI) to measure risk for obesity-related issues. She screens for pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency. She also ensures her patients understand how to help prevent strokes. Her special interests include risk assessment for both coronary artery disease (CAD) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). In addition, using a risk calculator she assesses patients’ ten-year risk of stroke and coronary heart disease (CHD). Dr. Spurgash also works with surgeons to provide pre-operative risk assessments.
She holds memberships in the American Medical Association, Illinois Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, American College of Osteopathic Internists and other organizations that enhance her knowledge of innovations and best practices.
Dr. Spurgash was extremely personable and easy to chat with. She took time to answer my questions thoroughly. I was very impressed with her credentials too. The only issue I had was that there was some confusion regarding my ZocDoc appt. I think they are still learning how to manage their end of it. I'd strongly recommend this doctor, however I'd also recommend that you CALL FIRST to make sure you are on her schedule. The office staff was very friendly, apologetic, professional and handled the situation and me well. That said, there was nothing they could do other than have me wait. Sigh. But I'm glad I waited; I think I am in good hands with Dr. Spurgash.

She was very polite and thorough. She explained everything she recommended that I take or have done as far as my health concerns
