A native Washingtonian, Dr. Lauren Gavaris graduated from The Holton-Arms School, and received her medical degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology training at the Washington Hospital Center. Before joining Eye Associates of Washington, Dr. Gavaris completed a two-year fellowship in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. She specializes in functional and cosmetic eyelid and eyebrow surgery, tearing disorders, eyelid skin cancers, thyroid eye disease, and facial trauma. Dr. Gavaris also has experience with Botox and injectable facial fillers. She is currently involved in resident and fellow education at the Georgetown University, Washington Hospital Center, and Children’s National Medical Center.

Dr. Gavaris lives in Bethesda with her husband and two daughters. She also enjoys golf, cycling, running, playing and teaching tennis, movies, and concerts. Before her career in Ophthalmology she was a player in the Women's Professional Tennis Circuit (WTA Tour).

She was a great doctor, was efficient and when I had to wait (many people in the waiting room) she was apologetic and got me examined quickly without making it feel rushed. Recommend her and everyone at this office! Very nice and professional.
