Dr. Makdesi received her medical degree from Universidad Central del Este, San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, in 2002. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

Dr. Makdesi is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her hospital affiliations include both both John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital and John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital.

Dr. Makdesi's special interests in medicine include geriatrics and internal medicine. She also has an interest in teaching other clinicians and has volunteered since 2004 in the instruction and supervision of internal medicine residents.
