Maria Basile, MD is a member of the Ophthalmology Practice at the Beth Israel Medical Group. She specializes in the medical, laser and surgical management of patients with glaucoma, as well as small incision cataract surgery.
Dr. Basile completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She then went on to complete prestigious fellowship training in Glaucoma at the Mount Sinai Medical Center with Dr. Steven Podos, prior to joining the Beth Israel Medical Group.
Dr. Basile is also an Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology in NYEE, involved in supervising and teaching residents. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Glaucoma Society. Dr. Basile presented her research work at national ophthalmology meetings, as well authored book chapters.

I had pink eye, so my appt was very straight forward. She saw me for 5 mins in the exam room. I waited just shy of 2 hrs (an 1 and 45 mins to be exact). I would say this was a fluke experience. But my husband saw this dr 3 days prior and was waiting OVER 2 hrs. My husband called and made an appt the morning he was going in. When he got there and waited 2 hrs, and questioned it, he was told he was a walk-in and was being seen AFTER everyone else. I thought being that I made a morning appt this would not happen to me, but it did. I will never go back again.

Dr. Maria Basile is an excellent doctor; highly skilled and very focused, but with a lovely, pleasant manner that set me at ease immediately. Both the exam, and Dr. Basile's explanation of my situation, were detailed but still easy to understand. Rare to find a doctor who has both clinical and people skills in equal measure -- cannot recommend her highly enough.
