Dr. Maria Betancourt graduated with a B.A. in Biology from Cornell University in 1981. She did research and performed radioimmuneassays for the Endocrine Department of New York University. The research was investigating the effect of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone on various hormones from the brain. In 1982 she began her medical school trainig at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. She graduated in 1986 and also completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1986–1990 at UMDNJ University Hospital. Dr. Betancourt began her private practice in 1991 and became board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1994. She is fluent in Spanish and English. Her expertise is in colposcopy, contraceptive management, and menopausal care. She also has a special interest in abnormal uterine bleeding.

I liked Dr. Betancourt, and the exam was fast and efficient. The office is busy and the wait was a bit long, but I'd rather be a patient at a busy office--it means the doctors are popular. I was able to get an appointment right away (24 hours!), even as a new patient, which was fantastic. The front desk staff were very polite and friendly. I prefer doctors who are on the ZocDoc network; it makes scheduling so much easier.

It was one of her associates. She was quick and to the point, but the wait was very annoying. I was lucky I got an appointment so quickly! But that's why I love zocdoc, it showed me a cancellation and I took it!
consistent with other gyno appts i have had in the past as for protocol. she definitely didn't waste time/was quick but was more than happy to thoroughly answer any question i had and didn't make me feel like she was rushing to get in and out etc. overall she made me feel very comfortable.

My experience with Dr. Betancourt was very pleasant. Her staff is polite, efficient and helpful. I did not wait, or even sit down in the waiting room, but was taken immediately back to a room. The office and rooms are humble but neat and well laid-out, and the suite has a friendly atmosphere about it. Dr. Betancourt saw me right away. She was thoughtful and thorough when meeting me and getting my health history. She took time to discuss with me my concerns and offered multiple options and information to help resolve them. Her exam was comfortable. When there was an uncertainty about my insurance coverage for a particular procedure, she let me know in advance so that I could call for more information, rather than going ahead and footing me a large bill. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Betancourt and feel confident transferring my care to her office.
Honestly the best Obgyn I've seen to date -thorough, listens, and concerned about your health overall- and her bedside manner is instilled in the whole office as well! (Very kind nurses, office assistants, etc.)

Staff was great - really pleasant, which is a rarity in NYC, and a positive reflection on the practice overall. I arrived on time and was brought to the back right away, though I waited for 10 minutes in the exam room for Dr. Betancourt. Dr. Betancourt is definitely no-nonsense and efficient (i.e. no small talk at all - I was a new patient and she didn't ask me anything about myself), but she was pleasant, respectful and thorough. I'm glad that I chose her to be my new GYN.
This was my first visit with Dr. Betancourt. The staff at the reception desk were pleasant. I was called within 10 minutes of arriving. Dr. Betancourt asked questions, took her time listening to my concerns and overall, made me feel very comfortable.

They didnt have my appointment in their system even though they called me to confirm it roughly three weeks prior. That's just confusing to me.
