Dr. Mark Avart is an orthopedic surgeon serving the Philadelphia area. He works to treat each patient with respect, and to explain everything in detail so that patients leave with a full and meaningful understanding of their health.
Dr. Avart earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania before attending medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia, where he also completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Avart was always hungry to further his knowledge in his field, and so he went on to complete internships in Sports medicine, Pediatric Orthopedics, Hand specialty training, and General Orthopedics at a number of Philadelphia hospitals.
As a natural educator, Dr. Avart worked in the Resident Training Program where he taught Orthopedic residents at Lankenau Hospital. He also was proud to teach as an Associate Professor at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Philadelphia College. His qualifications include a number of Hospital Staff appointments, including positions at Mercy Suburban Hospital and Lankenau Hospital.
Dr. Avart is licensed to practice medicine in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and he is board-certified by the National Board of Osteopathic Examiners. He stays involved with his peers through a number of professional associations, including the American Osteopathic Association of Surgeons and the New Jersey Association of Physicians and Surgeons. He values continuing education, and has traveled around the country for courses and seminars to further his expertise in his field. Dr. Avart currently works at Philadelphia Orthopedic Group, and he is happily married with three children.
