Dr. Markos I. Koutsos received Fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Liver Disease at New York Presbyterian-Cornell Medical Center were he graduated in 1996. After fellowship he spent few months at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in England were he was further trained in advanced endoscopic procedures along with laser treatments and stent placements. Currently Dr. Koutsos is on staff at N.Y.Methodist Hospital and practice in Bayridge, Brooklyn and Manhattan.

His expertise includes Esophageal Dilations, Botulinum Toxin Injections, Infrared Coagulation of Hemorrhoids, Small Intestinal Endoscopy, ERCP with sphincterotomy, and stone retrieval, and Chronic Liver Disease including recent combination interferon-ribavarin treatment for Chronic Hepatitis.

Dr. Koutsos performs extensive research at Cornell University Medical Center and the Rockefeller University, on Colorectal Cancer Prevention and the mechanisms by which different Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs reduce the incidence of Colon Cancer. Presently Dr. Koutsos involved in a large scale study on the subject at Rockefeller University Hospital. He published numerous articles and conducted many lectures on Colon Cancer prevention at international meetings.
