Dr. Mary Cutting MD, FACOG

My appointment felt rushed and Dr. Cutting's manner was abrupt and dismissive. She did not introduce herself or shake my hand upon entering the room, but immediately asked me, "what can I do for you?". I came in for a specific issue but was hoping to find a new doctor due to a change in insurance. I will not see Dr. Cutting again and I wouldn't recommend her.

I think sometimes when physicians have been in the business a while they forget (or never learn) any bedside manner. Many women like myself dread getting pap smears so some gentleness is in order. In my case, there was no verbal warning prior to insertion and afterwards, the doctor teased me about being "out of practice". This after having been told I'm not sexually active. Perhaps she meant to be friendly, but I found her to be rather rude, frankly. My needs were served, but it was generally an unpleasant experience.

Everyone in this practice is tops in my book.

She was professional, but not very personal. Her conversation was very as matter of factly and I did not like that. I have been going to the office for over five years now, and I find the midwives to be more approachable.

She was very informative and new her research on the topics for which I wanted to discuss. I appreciated that. I felt very comfortable speaking with her about my issues and concerns and being examined by her.

I'm not sure why she get's negative reviews. She's to the point and very nice. She answered any questions I had and then I was on my way.

She's been my Doctor for more than a decade and I couldn't ask for more!

Horrible. Didn't wash hands, didn't label specimen. Rushed through the appointment like she doesn't care anyways. I'm switching. Apart from this, the office messed up my appointment and never apologized or gave explanation.

Dr. Cutting is very matter-of-fact, which can be good. I wish she could chat me up during the exam though, since it is an uncomfortable experience.

Quick visit, but as a first time patient I felt quite unwelcomed. The reviews of this doctor did not match my reality. Very rushed and she pushed/ pulled on me like a rag doll. I have never felt so uncomfortable with an OBGYN.

I went for an appointment regarding a possible vaginal infection and I felt like I was practically rushed out of the room. I felt no empathy and got nothing more than a specimen was being sent to the lab. I have multiple freaking sclerosis. I don't know what having an auto-immune disease has on my ability to recover from infections and I got no satisfactory answer from Dr. Cutting. Never again.

When I got there the receptionist was very nice and gave me a couple of forms to sign since I filled out the forms prior to my appt. They were quick to call my name and take me to the exam room. I used the restroom before my exam and the room was dirty and old. I was actually not comfortable sitting down on the toilet. Mary herself was professional, but not very personable. I went in for a normal annual exam and had a couple of questions. She made me comfortable during the exam and it went quickly, but when I asked a couple of questions, she gave me a quick vague answer and left the room. It seemed that I was putting her out with the 2 questions I had. Overall, it served the purpose, but if you like to develop a relationship with your doctor in a welcoming atmosphere, I wouldn't recommend this office.

I have been her client since 2009. Dr. Cutting is very professional. She is very pleasant to talk to, and I wish she could deliver my baby..but she does not deliver babies.

Even after a long day on a Monday she still took the time to answer my questions.

It was very convenient to have my paperwork done before I even stepped into the office. I did wait about 20 minutes past my appt. time before being called into the exam room and then another 15-20 minutes before the doctor came in. The exam was quick and efficient, and Dr. Cutting was polite and professional. I will go back for future needs.

Very good: office personnel were friendly and attentive, as was the nurse. Wait time was only about 10 minutes. Dr. Cutting has a pleasant demeanor is efficient, and gave helpful feedback. I was in and out quickly, but did not feel rushed in any way, which is just the way I think a routine doctor's appointment should be.

The wait was triple the time of actually seeing the doctor. Dr. Cutting did not give any feedback about health unless asked. It was a very awkward visit. The nurse is great though.

Dr. Cutting is pleasant, professional, easy-going, and matter-of-fact.

No one likes these kinds of visits, but she put me at ease and made me laugh. I will go out of way to ensure all my visits are with her from now on!

My appointment went ok, but I was prepared for Dr. Cutting's personality from reading other reviews. I did feel a slight bit rushed and that she was more interested in moving on than having an in depth convo about the symptoms and pain that I've been experiencing. I was a bit taken back when she asked if I had ever had surgery and then said oh that must be a stretch mark. Needless to say I won't continue my follow-up appointments with her but instead do more research and pick a doctor from this practice that fits my personality and needs more.

She is very kind and helpful. She is the best I have ever encountered.

the wait seemed like a long time, partially because i got there a little early since it was my first appointment ever with dr. cutting. when i finally went back a nurse took my weight and asked prelim questions. tthe nurse was very friendly and made up for the wait. when dr cutting finally came back it took her about 10 mins for the exam and tests. i liked that it was quick, but it almost seemed like she was in a rush to get out of there.

First time seeing this Doctor and I was please the service she provided. Very professional staff and overal visit of 30 minutes maximum. Second year using their practice and I'm very satisfied with the staff and the doctors there.

It was different. I had been with my OBGYN since I was 16 year old. They call SWAT team in Alexandria Hospital. He retire in 2008 or 09. Something I have to get use too. She was ok

Desparately lacking bedside manner. She conducted a very rough, painful insertion of speculum after which she tells me I have a dry vagina. She gave me a diagnosis which has certain social implications and she took no time to discuss any of it. Just handed me a script, then never discussed follow-up.

She is always available to discuss any issues you have. After an experience with cancer I can say my visits with her are reassuring and helpful as I progress to a state of wellness.

She was very not very personable, rude, and didn't help with making my situation feel important. Regardless of how many patients a doctor may see and how many of the same cases, I feel there still should be a sense of care and comfort. I left unsatisfied and and unhappy.

The office staff was courteous and took care of the paperwork quickly. I waited for only 15 minutes before being led back to the exam room. The nurse, Pat, was personable and ensured me that I only had to call her name if I needed something while waiting for Dr. Cutting to arrive. However, the doctor entered the exam room about 5 minutes later. She spent a lot of time with me discussing options and possible side effects of medications. I really appreciated that.

I was not satisfied. She did not explain anything she was doing, it was painful not just uncomfortable and she did not even seem to care.

I was disappointed in her bedside manner. Though she was not rude, she was cold. I was hoping to get some answers on a re-occuring issue, and instead just left with another prescription, rather than answers as to what I can do to maybe stop the frequency of the issue I was having.

I was disappointed to see the doctor walking through the lobby after getting tea or coffee only to then have me wait 30 min to see her. If the doctor needs a break schedule it in. My time is important as well.

I waited nearly 90 minutes (about 30 minutes of which was spent waiting in the exam room undressed from the waist down with only a paper drape) to be seen for a two minute procedure with the doctor, that is unacceptable in my opinion. I honestly felt like they forgot about me.

The appointment was very quick (which I like), she also explained what was happening during the appt and was professional.

While the practice is often backed up (read: long delays in the waiting room), Dr Cutting keeps me coming back. She's polite, efficient and explains what tests, etc are expected at each visit and what her own personal recommendations are. She asks questions about my health and provides multipe opportunities to raise questions and concerns of my own. She's also quick with prescription samples and coupons!

I felt slightly judged when answering the basic questions and her tone was rather condescending when I asked about my considering a contraceptive. I will definitely try another OB-BYN for my next annual.

The office is usually very efficient, although I waited a little longer than I typically do/like to.

She has terrible social skills. Yes, I am overweight but it is not necessary to sigh and roll your eyes at me. She never looked me in the eye, never called me by name, never asked anything about me, other than how long I've been overweight. My main reason for going to the doctor was to get birth control, which women can't get OTC, and was denied. Her manner is why I and many others rarely go to the doctor. I will not return.

I've been going to Dr. Cutting for 14 years and she has always given me honest and accurate medical advice. What more could you ask for?

I read some other reviews that weren't very flattering.... And, I suspect they were posted by women who haven't bothered to educate themselves about their own bodies. I suspect Dr. Cutting expects you to accept a little reaponsibilty for your own well-being, as well she should!! I work for doctors... And I would say she's a doc's doc... Among the best. But, don't be a stupid patient. Do your homework!!

After reading Dr. Cutting's other reviews, I was a little concerned that she would be cold and unresponsive to my concerns. I thought I would take a chance anyway and it paid off. Dr. Cutting was nice, professional, and answered all my questions. She didn't waste my time with chit-chat and got right down to business, which I appreciated. I will be returning to her next year for my annual exam.

She may not have the best bedside manner (but she's not totally rude and/or complacent, more like shoots from the hip) but I can tell that she is a very experienced doctor. However, I did not really know what to expect and wish there had been some more explanation about the exam and what I should be asking them. I just did not feel at ease during the visit, but the feeling most likely stems from my nerves and anxiety in doctors' offices in general. If you're looking for a drive-though type experience, this is the doctor for you. I went in for an annual exam; the actual exam from blood pressure to 'put your clothes on' was about 15 minutes. Didn't ask me any questions, just got to business. Perfect for a quick, no frills checkup. Would not recommend for first-timers or someone looking for a personable experience.

When she came in to my room, it was clear that I was already imposing on her time. She introduced herself without looking at me and proceeded to ask me questions while clearly annoyed. The procedure (annual pap smear) was rough and uncomfortable. She could have been less rough and she could also have engaged in small talk to make the whole thing less stressful. She should seriously consider why she's a doctor if she doesn't like patients. When I attempted to ask her questions about irregular pains, she was inching towards the door and stared at me like my concerns were unfounded. I would have appreciated a reassuring and knowledgeable answer, not a look like I was the dumbest person in the world. In addition, I was treated unfairly because of my age. Because I am younger, she acted like I was below her and that my concerns were unreasonable. In addition, the staff was extremely unprofessional. The receptionist was rude to patients and the nurses were lackadaisical, and performing their jobs with the littlest amount of effort. Like the doctor,they seemed to think that my age made it ok for them to act like idiots, even to the point of harassing me about what I was doing this weekend WHILE I was getting my blood drawn. I really did not appreciate any of the staff's behavior and I only recommend going here if there is no other option.

TERRIBLE. Short and abrupt exam with no room for questions or comments. I was already in pain before I got there and was even more upset and confused when I left. The next day I told a coworker about the appointment and she said she had actually seen this doc and had the SAME experience. This doctor needs to get out of the business of treating people face-to-face and go sit in a lab somewhere in a dark corner. I'm sure she is knowledgeable (although since she said very little, I couldn't really tell) but, her bedside manner was deplorable.

While knowledgeable, I found her to be rushed and not overly warm. However, my biggest complaint is with the nurse, who did the pre exam questioning. I've seen her before and just find her to be unfriendly and judgmental. I have seen MANY other providers in the practice and have had a majority of VERY positive experiences, so I don't mind overlooking the occasional negative experience. Also, Dr. Cutting was able to give me a sample of birth control, which was helpful.

First, I was not able to keep the time I selected on ZocDocs since I was a new patient. I was told to come in 1.25 hours earlier than I had planned, but then not seen until 40-45 minutes after I arrived at the office, causing me to unnecessarily to miss important work hours. Maybe it was because it was the end of the day and they were behind, but I didn't find her particularly friendly. She didn't talk me through what she was doing and kind of caught me by surprise with the speculum. She was very brisk and I left feeling like I didn't get a true chance to discuss my problems.
