Dr. Melinda Atienza DO

Professional Statement

Dr. Melinda Atienza was born in Manila in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. at the age of 4. She attended the University of Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1991. She received her medical training at Midwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital in 1999. She has been board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine since 1999.

Dr. Atienza is married to a nephrologist and they have 2 beautiful daughters. They moved to the Valley from the Chicago area in 2006. Dr. Atienza enjoys Bikram yoga, cooking, and jewelry making. She plays the piano and recently learned to play the Native American flute. Dr. Atienza’s medical philosophy focuses on healthy lifestyle and prevention.
