Through my work as an optician, optometrist, osteopathic physician, and 30+ years of practicing ophthalmology, I have a unique and comprehensive approach to ocular examination and treatment. I personally perform all examinations and testing; technicians are not used. I believe this leads to a more accurate examination and better patient care.

I have actually trained in all levels of eye care prior to becoming an ophthalmologist. Working as an optician, I learned the importance of proper fitting of eyeglasses for visual comfort and functioning.

I attended optometry school at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where I obtained my O.D. (Doctor of Optometry) degree. Optometrists are trained to provide basic vision care, fit glasses, and diagnose and treat eye disease and conditions.

Immediately following optometry school, I attended medical school with the goal of becoming an ophthalmologist, a physician with medical and surgical expertise, trained to diagnose and treat the most advanced eye diseases. During my four years at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and subsequent 1 year internship in general medicine at the U.S. Public Health Service, I gained experience in many conditions that affect the body as well as the eye. In particular, osteopathic training, besides having a complete medical school curriculum, stresses the importance of the relationship of structure and function of the human body as well as a holistic approach to patient care. Some eye conditions can be treated by osteopathic manipulation.

I completed my ophthalmology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Afterwards, I went on to complete a prestigious one year fellowship in cataract surgery under a prominent ophthalmic surgeon.
