Dr Mellow, a board certified practitioner of Internal Medicine, graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed a four-year residency at St. Vincents hospital, New York, NY and served on the staff of the Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital for three years. Since 1981, Dr Mellow has been in private practice in Manhattan.
Practice includes adult primary care, including office gynecology, preventive care, and HIV primary care.Dr Mellow takes a holistic approach to the practice of medicine. She believes that a primary care doctor must treat the entire patient, not just an isolated organ system or disease. Exploring a patients own health concerns, stressors, and daily routines can sometimes be more revealing than sophisticated testing. Whenever possible, Dr. Mellow urges patients to adopt a healthier lifestyle, rather than relying on medications.
