I am compelled to write this because my visit yesterday was probably the best visit I've ever made to a doctor. Dr. Scheinfeld offered me a second opinion on my skin condition and less than 24 hours after heeding his advice and treatment plan i feel absolutely better. In my opinion, he is a great doctor and makes you feel at ease. When I asked him how to pronounce his last name, he just said "you can call me Noah". He was receptive to my questions, and was very direct in his answers. I felt absolutley at ease that this is a well qualified doctor who knows what he is talking about. The staff was really great too, they even faxed something over for me to my office so i was able to do some work during the brief wait. I don't wish my skin condition on anyone, its annoying and sometimes painful, but I would say that if you are in need of a dermatologist make your way over to see this doctor on 55th street.

Awful dermatologist and quite creepy to boot. I went in with dermatitis. They made me sign a form that said any procedure I would have to pay $250 for. Dr. Scheinfeld comes in, said I had dermatitis and should be put on meds and a cream, then poked me with a little instrument right away (like those sticks that they use to extract pimples with during a facial), and said "sign here." The form said that I had just gotten a "biopsy." I said, "That's a procedure? I didn't consent to that." He said, in the CREEPIEST way possible, "Well, then it's on me." And then he was all mad and left the room without explaining anything else. Literally the entire appointment lasted exactly 1 minute. DO NOT GO THERE.

This is a fast paced no nonsense operation. If you need cuddling, don't go here. If you're there to get checked, get a recommendation and get the hell out, it's the best place for you.

I just left Dr. Scheinfeld's office after my initial visit. I have to say that it was a wonderful experience all around. Dr. Scheinfeld is delightful. He explained my condition to me in a way I understood. At one point, he showed me an article he wrote about my exact condition--which really speaks to his competence and knowledge. The staff made my visit very comfortable. I dreadded making a Modnday morning appointment, for fear that I would be made to wait forever. Instead, I was seen quickly and yet not rushed. I highly recommend Dr. Scheinfeld!

I agree with some of the other reviews, he was very quick about 5mins but I am wondering if its because I have mild acne ,just need some clearing and he has seen alot of patients like me. maybe if i had a skin disorder he would spend more time listening. he was very pleasant though, knows his stuff and hopefully i can get good results.

Dr Scheinfeld has correctly diagnosed me and rapidly cured me when other dermatologists (especially one who appears almost regularly in the front page of the NYT) misdiagnosed me and wasted my money on expensive but useless prescriptions and creams. With graduate degrees from Harvard, Yale and Columbia, it shouldn't be surprising that he's such a whiz. Indeed, your first experience with him will seem to go too fast; you'll wonder how he could ever succeed in such a flash, but that's just how quick his brilliant mind is. If you want to be cured of a skin ailment quickly, go see Dr. Scheinfeld; if you want to feel like you're worth being talked to at length, go see a shrink.

My first and only encounter with Dr. Scheinfeld was awful enough that I feel compelled to review. I would never recommend him to anyone. He barged in the office without introducing himself or knocking. He interrupted the discussion I was having with his assistant and never bothered to learn what I had already told her. He talked incessantly and self importantly, as if his voice would somehow cure my skin. He wasn't interested in my symptoms or my history. He didn't attempt a diagnosis, but even if he had, I can't imagine how it could have been accurate considering he interrupted me every time I tried to explain my situation.

The worst experience I've ever had at a doctor. Really seemed like he was on uppers. Wouldn't explain clearly what he thought the issue might be, and convinced me to let him do a biopsy without feeling comfortable with it. The procedure felt sloppy and I almost fainted. Then he offered me a limonata and, while I was still half-conscious, ranted about the UK health care system. Needless to say, I asked his office to send my biopsy results to another doctor.

Dr. Scheinfeld is probably one of the brightest people I have ever met. His knowledge about run of the mill, everyday dermatology as well as esoteric, 'you'll be lucky if you've seen one case like this in 50 years' is astounding. I have referred my husband (also a physician) as well as several of my children to him for routine, as well as more complicated issues. Also, when speaking to colleagues of Dr. Scheinfeld, all I hear is glowing comments about his medical knowledge and expertise. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Dr. Scheinfeld to anyone looking for a good dermatologist in NYC.

Wonderful first visit. Waited less than 3 minutes and found Dr.Scheinfeld to be a good listener and a doctor who was truly interested in researching various treatment options to treat my condition. Was not happy with this doctor. Rushes you out of his office as soon as possible. Cuts off your questions to save time. Very cursory and superficial examination. Overall very unsatisfied and unhappy with his poor level of surface. If you want to feel completely rushed and leave with unanswered questions, please come here so the doctor can see you for 10 min and kick you out ASAP

My visit with Doctor Scheinfeld was pleasant and instructive. Doctor Scheinfeld has a wonderful disposition and explained in detail the condition I was be treating for and the options available to me. Furthermore, his staff was polite and professional. There were several patients in the comfortable and state of the art waiting room. Even though the office was busy, my appointment was right on a schedule which is a real plus. Furthermore, the office is centrally located and easy to reach by train, cab and is walking distance from a wide segment of the mid town district. I highly recommend Doctor Scheinfeld.

The office is very sanitary; The staff seems friendly & helpful. The Doctor was quick to see me, however, I went to him for one reason, which he dismissed all too soon for my liking, & focused on something totally different which I wasn't even worried about. He proceeded to pull out a needle to take a sample of what he thought was a potential problem without fully explaining it to me or asking me if it was ever looked at. After taking the sample, without fully getting dressed, he asked me to sign a piece of paper. After reading, it was a waiver in case I get a permanent scar or pains, etc... a document which I should have signed BEFORE he took the sample!

Was in and out in 35 minutes as a new patient. 15 minutes in the doctors office, but ALL 15 minutes were with him.
