Dr. Preeti Rana MD

My experience with Dr. Rana was excellent. I looked for a new doctor after lots of bad experiences with doctors in downtown DC. I found them all horribly rushed, always running late, and seemingly only interested in getting me out the door as soon as possible. Their waiting rooms were always full and it would take months to get an appointment. I looked to the VA suburbs thinking I'd undoubtedly find a more diligent doctor there. I did in Dr. Rana. I had no problem getting an appointment with 3 days notice. Her office was very clean and modern (thumbs up to the flat screen TV in the waiting room) and I was the only person scheduled at my appointment time. The nurse was helpful and efficient; then Dr. Rana visited with me and showed genuine concern for my well-being despite it being my first visit there. She outlined the needed follow up tests for some pain I'd been having and promised to monitor it until we found improvement. She never was rushed to get out of the room and asked repeatedly if I had any other questions or concerns. Thrilled to finally find a solid medical professional in the DC area. Only thumbs down - the parking lot charges four bucks.

Dr. Rana is a good listener and, in my opinion, worth the wait.

Dr. Rana is a nice enough doctor, but I would take less nice for more organization and efficiency. These are things that can be improved and I offer the following suggestions: - More help/training for check-in personnel. There was one woman and she was clearly overwhelmed, possibly new. I saw one patient leave because he'd clearly been there too long. At the end of my visit she asked me if I had a co-pay. If I had been a dishonest person I could have said no and left. The photo-copy of my insurance card that she made and managed to put in my file has my co-pay information right on the front. -- The office only takes cash or check. I have a HSA debit card. While it's not a big deal, it's something I would have liked to have known prior to my visit. You also have to pay to park. -- This was a three hour ordeal and most of it was spent sitting in the exam room alone. It would have been different if we'd spent three hours talking about my health but we didn't. -- A checklist would be helpful. Dr. Rana seemed to be constantly trying to remember what she was supposed to ask me. A standardized checklist for the patient to fill out and a standardized checklist of all she'd like to cover as the doctor might be beneficial for organization.

Long wait for being the only one in the reception area. Sat there for 20 minutes before even being checked in. Front office staff is lacking.

Dr Rana was very thorough. I'm an ER nurse and she ordered every diagnostic test I was hoping for.

Really friendly, professional doctor with a friendly, professional staff. There was a bit more of a wait than I'd have liked, but once I was called, I didn't have to wait long to see Dr. Rana, and she and her nurse were extremely helpful.

Simply the best doctor I've had in a long time. Very knowledgeable and sweet.

She is easily the most caring physician I have seen in a long, long time. I definitely felt 'heard' by her.

Dr. Rana is a very friendly and comforting Doctor to be with. She is soft spoken and caring and makes you feel comfortable and at ease immediately. Her nurse staff was extremely efficient and helpful too.
