Dr.Ahmed researched Sleep in the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis population, which was presented nationally at both the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society. She is an alumnus of the School of Sleep Medicine in Palo Alto, CA since Spring 2000 and educates there as a visiting professor. She instructs faculty at the American College of Chest Physicians.She also contributes as a speaker to the Narcolepsy Network, a patient-centered national organization for people with narcolepsy. Internationally, she has participated in numerous meetings in Europe and the Midde East most recently returning to lead a course on academic writing in Saudi Arabia. She has expertise in adult, adolescent and pediatric sleep disorders. She has published in her field and also a major work of non fiction. She is a contributing writer on issues including Sleep for The Huffington Post
