There was a bit of confusion about whether I actually showed up to my visit. I got a phone call saying I missed my appointment while I was in the office and then another call about a hour later saying the same. Dr. Rubin is fantastic though! She's very attentive, funny, intelligent, and has excellent bedside manner. She isnt pushy and always offers alternatives. Yes, all of that from this one visit alone!

I like Dr. Rubin but it is apparent this is office is poorly staffed and scheduled. It is factory-medicine at its best, and the churn and burn style was bogged down so everything was running super late. I was early for my appointment, as specified, but after 20 minutes after my appointment was suppose to start I was still sitting in the front office. I finally asked if she was going to see me. That is when the front office staff said she was running late, which was an issue because I needed to be someplace in an hour. I asked about rescheduling but told me that I would be charged a cancellation as well as my co-payments so it would cost me $120 because she was running late. At that point the front staff informed me that I should expect to wait 60 minutes to see the not doctor, which is absolutely ridiculous. Finally I got in and waited another 15 minutes with no doctor. I'm sorry, 35 minutes waiting JUST TO SEE THE DOCTOR is not acceptable. Again, I like this doctor but it is not acceptable to make someone wait that long, just schedule appropriately and both your patients and doctors will be happy Westside Family Medical

I recently got health insurance after 11 years without, and wanted to get a good, solid checkup. With a baby on the way, I thought it would be great if the new GP I chose was a family practitioner as well. Based on the reviews here on ZocDoc, I was really excited to have landed an appointment with Dr. Rubin. I'm sorry to say that I was really let down by the experience. Countless reviews listed bedside manner as one of Dr. Rubin's strong points, but I found this to be far from accurate. Over the course of my appointment, I was frequently cut-off and dismissed when expressing any potential health concerns. I asked for a few specialist referrals (which seemed a huge inconvenience). I spend roughly 16hrs a day on my feet while working, but after asking for a podiatrist referral, was confronted with a very curt "Again, I don't see any evidence why this is necessary, but fine!"... followed by a door slam. Prior to this outburst, I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. This behavior pretty much ensured than neither I, nor my family will be going back to Dr. Rubin. Too bad. Based on the reviews here, I was excited to think that I had found a great doctor. Oh yeah, she referred to my baby to be as an alien. Almost forgot about THAT one.

Dr. Rubin is the most professional and down to earth doctor I have ever seen. She makes you feel as though you are talking to a family member or friend. She takes her time to answer all of your questions, makes you feel extremely comfortable, and tells you her honest opinion without pushing it. In spite of her popularity, she hardly makes you wait for your appointment, an incredibly rare quality in New York City...or anywhere! I'm usually in and out within the hour: that includes wait time; actual examination, and all questions fully answered. You really can't beat that. I will continue to make Dr. Rubin my primary doctor.

Dr. Rubin seemed like a nice enough person but she was misinformed about an important health issue. I later consulted with two specialists about the same issue and they gave me opposite information. Dr. Rubin also never called to give me my test results, which she said she would have within a week. I would not go back.

I really like Dr. Rubin. Unfortunately her hours are very limited and so I mostly saw other doctors at the practice. Some of the practice policies are very challenging. I once had to call 3 times and argue over and over again about getting a refill on a prescription. They kept refusing to refill it because I was "overdue" for a follow up visit. Even though I wasn't sick, I actually was scheduled to be seen the following week but my prescription was due to run out a few days prior to the appointment. Finally, after I asked them to call Dr. Rubin directly, they refilled the prescription! I'm having a similar issue right now with them. We'll see if they come through or if they let me run out of meds. I think it's unfortunate that the practice is run like this because for the most part, the doctors are very good, but these policies can make it a very unpleasant experience to be their patient.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Dr. Rubin. She gave me the wrong test results, and while I understand that everyone makes mistakes, Ms. Rubin’s actions to rectify her mistake was disappointing to say the least. Dr. Rubin was unsympathetic to the stress I experienced as a result of her mistakes. Further, she did not offer to do anything to minimize the impact of her mistake. Also, I recently found out that Dr. Rubin did not give me the best option for a particular vaccine. I have had a much much better experience with Dr. Laura Cha (also on Zoc Doc.) Dr. Rubin has a lot of positive reviews, but my experience was very negative.

Dr. Rubin was great - very friendly and made me feel comfortable, answered all of my questions, and even asked me several times if I had thought of any other questions! It was also great that they had extended hours, since I work late a lot. Everyone else in the office was great too, and even though I was the last appointment of the day, I didn't feel rushed. Just a note - if you have a late appointment, you won't be able to reach this office by phone after 5pm, since this practice has multiple locations and the location that handles the phones closes at 5pm.

To comment about the wait time, when you make an appointment at 7pm, it is very likely that the office has been swamped so 30 - 60 minutes was not unexpected. The convenience of being able to schedule such a late appointment outweighed the wait time. Dr. Rubin was very personable and she made me feel at ease. She doesn't like to make assumptions and was very thorough in her questioning. Westside Family Medicine makes going to the doctor for an annual check-up very convenient. They do the blood work in the office so no need to go elsewhere.

This was my second visit with Dr. Rubin, and she remembered me clearly from the first visit five months ago. She treated me like a whole human being, not just a collection of organs with symptoms. I welcomed her willingness to discuss alternate ways to address my symptoms.

I like Dr. Rubin, but the wait today was less than ideal. It was 45 minutes before I got to see the doctor. I know it's difficult to keep on time and the fact that Dr. Rubin doesn't rush and treats you like a person is a huge plus, but 45 minutes is pushing it. 20-25 minutes is a fair time to wait, but 45 min? Maybe it was on off day.

I always get nervous when going to the doctor, but Dr. Susan Rubin instantly made me feel comfortable the moment she walked in the door. I like how she sits down with you at first and takes the time to talk to you, find out about you and answer all your questions. I felt relieved walking out the door. Even though the office is a bit out of the way to where I live, it is well worth the extra travel and I have found my permanant doctor!

This was my first visit with Dr. Rubin, she was really wonderful. Very informative, straight forward, and not intrusive. She answered all my questions, and really listened to me. Dr. Rubin has excellent bedside manner! I felt so comfortable with her, and I usually feel awkward at the gyno. However, the wait time between steps of the process was excessive. About an hour had passed by the time everything was done and there were no other patients before me in the office.

Dr. Rubin is one of the best doctors I have been to. As a New Yorker who lives in the LES, I travel to the Upper Westside just to see her. I am very pleased with zocdoc and was referred by a friend to find a doctor in my work area. Dr. Susan Rubin was wonderful, spent a good 1/2 hour going over medical history. She took blood work right away and I will be seeing her next week for a follow-up visit. She is all about wellness and not about pill pushing which is very refreshing!!!

I highly recommend Dr. Rubin. I visited her office today for my annual gynecological exam, and I couldn't imagine a better experience. I came in with a pretty long list of questions/concerns, and she patiently addressed all of them. She made me feel very comfortable and listened to, and I could tell that she was not judging me at all. I felt that I could be completely honest with her. She is knowledgeable of all forms of birth control (don't ask my why some OB/GYNs are not...) and a true advocate for reproductive choice. Like I said, I couldn't recommend Dr. Rubin more.

Dr. Rubin has a great bedside manner and is focused on general wellness and preventative care(ie, healthy lifestyle: eating and exercising) rather than medicating the symptoms. I think I went on a busy day, because I had to wait for 45 minutes, although there was just one other person in the waiting room and a few RNs and PAs were hanging out near reception. Despite the wait, it was a positive experience.
