ZocDoc was founded with a mission to give power to the patient. We help millions of patients find doctors they love and the care they need.
Our team of 600 works every day to make the healthcare experience beyond the exam room better, because people aren’t just patients when they are wearing a paper gown.
The healthcare journey starts with coverage for care. That’s why we were happy to answer the White House’s call to help more people access healthcare in 2016.
Since the Affordable Care Act’s coverage provisions have taken effect, 17.6 million Americans have gained health insurance. Another 10.5 million are eligible for coverage on the Marketplace in 2016.
With enrollment open for this coming year, we’re spreading the word about insurance coverage options and helping patients find the care they need.
- Remember to sign up. We are reaching out to patients who may be uninsured or in need of a new plan with messages directing them to healthcare.gov and resources to help them understand benefit options. Of the patients who will sign up anew or change insurance plans through healthcare.gov or state-based exchanges, it’s estimated that the majority will make their selections in this final week before the December 15 deadline for January 1 coverage. Open enrollment runs through the end of January.
- Find a doctor you love. While providing insurance isn’t our specialty, helping patients find in-network, neighborhood doctors is. On ZocDoc, patients can pre-meet doctors – viewing photos of staff and their offices, professional statements and affiliations, and verified reviews from other patients. Importantly, particularly for patients starting the year with new insurance plans, patients can also search by insurance. More than 75 percent of ZocDoc doctors accept at least one ACA plan.
- Keep track of checkups with the ZocDoc Well Guide, a personalized to-do list of preventive care appointments like annual physicals, dental cleanings, and well woman visits – many of which are free under the ACA. The recommendations take into account factors like a patient’s age and sex and are based on standards from trusted medical organizations.
Every patient deserves care, and access is the first step. We are proud to do our part to help insured rates continue to climb, to match patients with in-network neighborhood doctors, and to be the beginning of a better healthcare experience.
