"Folks, I was not only in misery, I was scared. I'm sure some of you know the fear of not being able to breathe, or have experience spontaneously stopping breathing. Suddenly, you just stop? That's me. My most recent allergy/asthma cycle started four weeks ago and ramped up slowly, as it so often does. But after the last three nights without being able to breathe through my nose with my asthma kicking in, and with my sleep apnea threatening to shut off all air since my CPAP was useless on a nose that didn't work, I crept to the computer in the middle of the night and looked up a new allergist and zeroed in on Dr. Kaza. I was able to make an appointment for this morning at 9:30 and was face-to-face with Dr. Kaza by 9:31! I'm on time; she's on time: great start. Even in my blurry sleep-deprived state she drilled into my history and recent experiences and kept me focused. She emphasized first-things-first, on ending my pain and symptoms as quickly as possible with a promise to tweak my long term treatment to improve my response to seasonal allergies. Worth noting: She asked me if I'd eaten. Without being able to swallow I hadn't eaten much or had much to drink in a few days. She had her assistant bring me a few cups of water and crackers to soften the effects of the medication. She told me not to rush. It struck me not only that Dr. Kaza has a particular awareness of all the details, but also her ensuring I did not have an empty stomach prior to giving me medication was surprisingly kind in this era of "15-minute time slots" that most doctors seem to have imposed on them from upstairs. My trust meter is off the charts right now since it is only five hours later and I can breathe again. I will take her up on her bed-rest order and am hopeful that my now four-season condition can be significantly improved! If you are careful about which doctor you choose, Dr. Kaza was born to this, truly. She clearly loves her work and cares deeply about helping people get relief from their misery. Thank you doctor! "
