What could be causing this bleeding?
My period always last seven days and is now going on day nine it's light bleeding but this has happened before about three years ago the first time I got pregnant which ended in a miscarriage, could it be the same reason it's happening now or could something else be causing it?
There are many different reasons that your period could be slightly longer than it usually is, but it is very good that you are so attentive to the cues your body is providing. Without more information, it is difficult to say with certainty what it is that is causing your specific prolonged period. For many women, subtle variations could be normal, but the fact that you are describing such a regular period for such a long period of time indicates that there could be something more to your current situation. The best thing to do at this point is to speak with your doctor to determine what is the appropriate next step. Some physicians, knowing your health history, may feel comfortable following up with you in several days if the symptoms persist. Others, knowing perhaps more about you, may feel that you should be seen earlier. Situations like the one you are describing are perfect illustrations of how a consistent relationship with your doctor can help both your physician and you to obtain optimal medical care. Please speak with your OB/GYN or primary care doctor about your symptoms, and determine at what point you should consider additional testing or visits.
