Question

My girlfriend is in her third trimester and is suffering from dizziness, nausea, and hallucinations. What should she do?

She is suffering from dizzyness neasea and holucinations and she is hydrated

Answer

Please make sure that your girlfriend speaks with her doctor immediately, and take her to an emergency room if needed. There are some medical conditions that can be quite dangerous in pregnancy, and can lead to serious complications in the health of both the baby and the mother if they are not treated in a timely fashion. Hydration is important, but dehydration is not likely to explain the symptoms that you are describing. Pre-eclampsia is one medical condition in which the kidneys and blood pressure can be very affected in pregnancy and result in great injury to mother and child. It is more common among women that smoke. Your doctor will be able to help you know what things are most likely to be causing the symptoms in your girlfriend, so please make sure that you speak with her doctor ASAP. While some dizziness and nausea are quite common in pregnancy, the fact that she is having hallucinations as well is concerning. Any change from normal, during pregnancy or even during regular life, is something that should be brought up with your doctor. Please speak with your doctor about your concerns, and please do so quickly.
