"Can you masturbate after being treated for a STD?"

ZocdocAnswersCan you masturbate after being treated for a STD?

Will masterbating effect the std antibiotic?

The general answer to your question is that there are no treatments for sexually transited diseases (STDs) that will be affected by masturbation. I do recommend that you speak with your primary care physician about your concern. Probably the most common treatment for STDs is the treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea. These are the two most common sexually transmitted infections and are both bacterial infections. The treatment for chlamydia is usually azithromycin or doxycycline. The treatment for gonorrhea is typically a single shot of ceftriaxone. Masturbation will not affect any of these antibiotics. Other common STDs include genital warts which is caused by infection with HPV, and herpes simplex virus infection which is caused by infection with the HSV virus. The treatments for each of these problems are also not affected by masturbation. Whenever you are being treated for something such as STD, I would suggest that you always ask your doctor whether something like masturbation, drinking alcohol, or using other drugs could interfere with the treatment. Doctors generally tend to mention these things when they are important, but sometimes we forget. and I would suggest that you schedule an appointment with your primary care physician for this problem. The two of you you can discuss what treatment you received and what precautions are necessary in your specific situation. Good luck.
