How much does it cost for a conjunctival nevus to be removed?
I would like to know how much it would cost to remove a nevus in the eye.
Thank you for your question. The best thing to do is to speak with your primary care doctor for guidance. Unfortunately, this is not a simple one to answer, at least in the United States. Most hospital systems quote wildly disparate prices for essentially the same procedure. These prices are based on many different factors, such as location, level of care that will be required afterwards, and the pricing that has been negotiated with insurance companies. In general, it is rare for hospitals to collect the full price that they list, at least when they are dealing with insurance companies. That is because insurance companies can negotiate and demand lower prices due to their size and the number of patients that they are covering. Individual patients are not so fortunate, however, and so it is important to call around and find the best pricing. That being said, any sort of surgery is a very important thing and pricing should not be your only concern. You also need a qualified surgeon. There are resources available that can help you find the right person, and from there you can discuss with that surgeon or his or her office what the total charges are likely to be. Most systems do have resources available to help if cost is an issue. Please speak with your primary doctor for more guidance.

If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or (in the United States) 911 immediately. Always seek the advice of your doctor before starting or changing treatment.
