Baby has temp 103, what can I do?
Baby has temp 103 and is jumping what can I do
The answers your question depends somewhat on how old your baby is. If your child is under the age of 6 months you should take your kid to the hospital immediately. This is because any major fever on an infant should be investigated more thoroughly in emergency department. If your child is over the age of 6 months then I would schedule an appointment today with his or her pediatrician. A fever that high deserves an evaluation by a physician. The most common causes a fever in a child around the age of one would be an upper respiratory tract infection or an ear infection. A runny nose or a cough would certainly point to a viral cause of the symptoms. However, other more serious infection such as meningitis will want to be ruled out by your doctor. Kids have a tendency of producing very high fevers for sometimes minor things so this might not be something serious but there's no way to tell. Certainly bacterial infections including pneumonia and meningitis are things that you absolutely would not want to miss. For these reasons you always need to be seen the same day for a fever that high. Again, if you have a newborn, the child must go to the emergency department for a fever that high.
