Do Biore Pore strips help remove blackheads?
I keep seeing the ads for Biore pore strips which claim they can really clean out your pores and remove blackheads. Is this true, or is it just clever marketing?
Many people have questions about how best to take care of blackheads. The doctors who will be well qualified to discuss this issue with you include your primary care doctor or your dermatologist. Blackheads are a type of acne that forms when skin pores become clogged open by dead skin and other debris. Therefore, the basic treatment is to remove the debris. Biore Pore strips can accomplish this if the blackheads are mostly just limited to the nose. However, remember that they should not be used every day and that they cannot substitute for the basic methods, which include daily cleansing of the skin with a good facial soap, the use of exfoliating preparations to remove dead skin and, in more stubborn cases the use of a comedonolytic (or skin debris removing product). Commonly used comedonolytics are those that contain benzoyl peroxide, which is safe and effective, and can be found in many over the counter and prescription products. As always the diagnosis and the management of your skin concerns will require a physical examination by your personal physician. Setting up an office visit with your primary care doctor might be advised if symptoms persist.
