Does aromatherapy help in stress reduction?

I've tried massage and exercise. Will aromatherapy help?
There are many alternative modalities that are available that may help with stress reduction. These include massage, exercise, aromatherapy, acupuncture, medication, and many others. You will be able to find people who swear by each of these modalities, and you will be able to find people who also say that each modality did not help them. What this means is that each person's response to the modalities is very unique, and it is difficult to say which ones will be helpful to you without trying them. That being said, aromatherapy is very safe and unlikely to cause you any harm, so there is no risk in trying it out and seeing how it goes. Also, don't forget that some of the most important elements of reducing stress include balance in your life. Particularly, it is important to get adequate and regular sleep and to eat healthy, well balanced meals. You should also make certain that your caffeine and alcohol intake are not too high. If you are not paying attention to these principles, then none of the alternative therapies like massage or aromatherapy are likely to be very helpful for you. If you have further questions about stress reduction, talk to your primary care doctor for ideas.
