But what impact is this stress having on people\u2019s health?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stress isn\u2019t fun to feel in the moment \u2014 the tight stomach, headache and racing thoughts are horrible to experience. But repeated stress can have serious long-term effects on the body, and may exacerbate health conditions that can negatively impact your quality of life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Asthma<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are a person living with asthma, then you are well aware that strong emotions can act as a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aafa.org\/asthma\/asthma-triggers-causes\/emotions-stress-depression\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trigger for an asthma attack<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. When mindful breathing, breathe in for seven seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and breathe out for seven seconds. This can be something in nature, such as a tree or flower. It can also be something on your body, like your own hand or your foot. Observe it, focus all of your attention on it, and use this focus as a means to let go of whatever is stressing you out.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By learning how to manage your stress and your breathing, you can reduce the impact that stress has on your asthma.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Anxiety<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long-term, increased levels of stress can have a strong impact on people with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/anxiety\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20350961\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anxiety disorders<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and phobias.
