Dr. Summer Totonchi, DMD, has been with 1st Family Dental since 2009. Dr. Totonchi earned her degree at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL in 2008. The degree then was followed with a one year of General Practice Residency for Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (AIMMC), in Chicago, in which extra training was obtained in pediatric patient treatment, various techniques of alleviating apprehension and anxiety of patients, emergency medicine, administering treatment through mobile dental van, and the treatment of special needs patients. Dr Totonchi is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), Chicago Dental Society (CDS), serves on the ISDS Dental Education Committee, and has been a staff member of AIMMC hospital system since 2013. Listening to patient needs and addressing them is an important part of her daily activity, as well as reinforcement of oral health care education for the general public.

Dr. Totonchi is fluent in English and Arabic, and is currently continuing her studies in the Italian language and culture. She loves spending time in the outdoors with her husband with activities such as rock climbing, bicycling, hiking, and activities such as traveling and cooking with her family. Music and the arts are a passion she seeks to nurture whenever possible. She recently spent time living in Italy, where her husband is from, to explore the culture.
