Aditya Patel M.D. is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist, with additional subspecialty fellowship training and board certification in Interventional Pain Medicine. He completed his Residency Training in Anesthesiology at the Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston New Jersey. From the beginning of his training he developed a special interest in both acute and chronic pain management, and had the special opportunity to work closely with the highly qualified pain management specialists at SBMC throughout his residency training. He quickly developed an ability to connect with patients and recognized its importance in developing a strong physician-patient relationship. Dr. Patel completed in undergraduate training at the University of California, San Diego. There he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. After completing his undergraduate training, Dr. Patel was accepted to the St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada West Indies. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned his Medical Degree in 2006. Upon completion of his Medical School Education, Dr. Patel pursued a Research Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. He worked in a basic science laboratory in the Department if Anesthesiology on a project studying the effects of hypoxia on programmed cell death or apoptosis. The work to which he contributed was published in an article in Current Biology. In 2007 Dr. Patel began his Residency training in Anesthesiology where he served as Chief Resident in Anesthesiology during his final year. Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Patel began his fellowship training in Pain Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
