About Alexander Mylonas

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I graduated with a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Indianapolis in 2016. I completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Rutgers University in 2009 with a minor in east Asian studies. My clinical training took place in a variety of settings including college counseling, community mental health, medical centers, and Veteran’s Affairs hospitals. Throughout my training I have been exposed to a number of therapeutic models and currently practice from a humanistic-existential perspective integrated with evidenced based practices. I see psychotherapy as an opportunity for clients to experience a relationship in which they can express themselves freely, without fear of judgment or stigma, in a space that encourages them to explore who they are and what gives their lives meaning. Engaging in that relationship means challenging ourselves to confront the things we fear, embracing our unique strengths and needs, and learning how to compassionately care for ourselves. In this therapeutic process, my aim is to support clients wherever possible with tools backed by psychological research, while also collaborating with them to learn more about the person they are trying to become and removing the obstacles in their way.

I went into my visit feeling skeptical, and nervous. I didn't really want to go to therapy and thought I would be wasting my time. I left feeling refreshed and hopeful. He was able to work around my personal needs andalways made sure I was comfortable and happy with the progress we made. I felt better each time that I went, and I can feel a difference in myself. I appreciate that I can be completely honest with him and not feel embarrassed. He also works around my hectic schedule very well. I would highly recommend Dr. Mylonas to anyone.
