Getting to know Dr. Alexis Kopp-Smith

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Manhattan treating adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I have extensive experience working with issues related to intimacy, relationship difficulties, coming of age challenges, anxiety, depression, bereavement, parenting, infertility/pregnancy, and a number of other areas of concern. My approach is casual, warm, supportive, and interactive. I am an empathic listener but also an active participant in the treatment and feel that challenging both the patient and myself is a necessary part of any growth process. Treatment is individualized, calling on my training in various psychodynamic theories and general curiosity and good humor. I understand that sharing your most intimate thoughts with someone else can be difficult, I hope to make this process easier for you by establishing a comfortable rapport and a safe therapeutic environment based on trust and mutual respect. From there, we can work together to address issues in both your past and present that are causing you distress.
