i had no knowledge of chiropractors but was in serious lower back pain, so picked Dr. Black for his proximity to my work place, insurance and reviews. Not scientific, but I had no other method. I appreciated his methodological approach and immediate treatment for relief. I have many more stages to go, so this will be an ongoing doctor-patient relationship - but i am hopeful.
very professional. after the adjustment, it relieved my pain immediately.
Left feeling much better and it was a quick visit and I didn't have to wait for along time and go over long amounts of history. WE got to the point he could tell I was in pain and he knew exactly how to help. I will got back!
I enjoyed visiting Andrew Black. We had a short conversation about ways to improve my posture and sleeping discomfort. He was very well mannered and accurate. I will be visiting this Friday.
Great doctor, very knowledgeable, and a great adjustment!
He is a very reasonable man and will accommodate in any way he can to provide the best treatment. I have never had such an amazing adjustment! His hands smelt a bit though, which was a bit off-putting.
It was very thorough, he asked a lot of questions and got down to business. Felt like a new man walking out! Will come back for sure.
I really appreciated that he stayed late for my scheduled evening appointment. I was seen immediately and he was very considerate of my comfort level given I had never been adjusted before. He helped me identify work-related triggers for my reoccuring back pain and I look forward to returning!
Dr. Black was an excellent chiropractic guide and made all recommendations easy to understand and instructions easy to follow.
Dr. Black has wonderful bedside manner. He is very knowledgeable and made sure to follow up with a call the next day to see how i was feeling after my adjustment. I no longer have the tension in my neck and its thanks to Dr. Black.
He cracked my back n aligned it. Felt much better after the visit. He explained evrything as we went on. Will be coming back!
Having never been to a chiropractor before, I was a bit skeptical, but my back was so tense and tight I could not turn my head, and was willing to try anything. Dr. Black was wonderful! He walked me through what he was doing the entire time, calming my nerves and patiently answering all of my questions. My back is now great, and I plan on returning regularly.
If you just need an adjustment, this guy is great! In and out and very helpful with insurance coverage.
Very good doctor, took great care of my back, excellent bed side manner and plentiful with advice etc.
Dr. Black was great, explained what he wanted to do and why before he did anything. The Fulton street office on the other hand was less than desirable. Tiny old space with 4 small exam rooms. If the office was closer to my home I would go back again because I did like Dr. Black however a 30 min commute while having back pain is preventing me from returning. If Dr. Black's other office can accept my insurance I would see him again.
Always great. Fixed me up and completely flexible on timing etc.
Dr. Black is consistently great. Helped my head a lot and I still see him whenever I need something taken care of. He's really flexible on timing and really listens to what you need. Best chiropractor I've found
This was my third appointment with Dr Black as my back completely seized up after a long flight. I am a busy executive with a tight schedule. It was very helpful that he was always able to fit me in with no wait time allowing me to see him at lunch. He has modern equipment which helped stretch out my spine and was very healing. He seemed to know where the pain was and the adjustments were also excellent. It was very relaxing listening to harp music and it made for a soothing experience. He is a first class doctor, both patient and very kind and a great listener. I am so relieved I found a good chiropractor at last and I have recommended him to all my friends and colleagues. If you have back pain it is worth taking the trip to Dr Black.
Dr. Black was able to identify where the issue was right away. I have been suffering from migraines and believed the knots in my back/shoulder may be contributing. Between the stem, pressure point work and adjustments my back/shoulders are feeling better after each visit!
I've been to three Chiropractors in my life. Dr. Andrew Black is the best and the most equipped professional Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine I have ever been too. Dr. Black, and his office personnel, are of top quality. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
It was the worst experience ever! The receptionist was incompetent. And Andrew Black was rude, the worst bed side manner imaginable.
I called a day before the appointment to make sure the doctors is in network with my insurance. Turns out he's not but he only charges me the amount Of my copay. He also asked If I wanted to come in for the appointment later that afternoon/evening because he was available, which was great because I was in a good deal of pain. Overall good experience. Going back for another appointment today. The office isn't like a typical doctor's office in that the rooms are partitioned but not necessarily separate. Then again, this is the first chiropractor I've been to in the NYC area so I'm not sure what to have expected. Dr. Black is knowledgeable and friendly, however I'm hoping to get more clarity on my back pain with today's visit. Not sure yet if that's due to the condition or the doctor.
Dr. Black seems like a great guy and a good doc. Even called my cell to say he was running late an hour before the appt so I didn't head over to early. Only major issue was the insurance. In ZocDoc he showed up as in network. I have anthem blue cross and they informed me he was out of network. I was in so much pain I decided to go for it anyway but I'm nervous I'm going to get a huge bill. I wouldn't recommend going unless you call ahead of time to confirm insurance. If the bill is reasonable ill update the review.
My visit was fine...but I didn't really feel like I was being seen by a doctor. The experience seemed more like I was at a low budget spa. However, Dr. Black was very nice.
The experience with the entire office was positive. However ZocDoc has this practice listed as in network for my insurance and they are actually out of network. Not sure where the fault lies on this but probably important to folks that are booking via ZocDoc and don't want to pay out of network. I wasted a morning because of this. Had they actually been in network, this would have been a medical practice that I would go to regularly.
This was strange and I feel badly that Dr Black works in this unprofessional environment. While he was courteous his staff was disorganized, another doctor (unprofessionally) disciplined the receptionist multiple times in front of me and there were more staff there than patients but nothing seemed to get done and no one seemed to have answers. Moreover, the electronic sign in tools do not allow you to forgo informed consent forms for procedures you're not at the health and wellness center for, (injections, anesthesia etc) and when I mentioned that, they told me to skip it. When mentioning I couldn't, the doctor disciplining the receptionist said "well I'm an anesthesiologist so there you've talked to one, just sign it anyway" telling me verbally that it will be exempt when I'm quite certain nothing was done about this afterward, and putting all of my information with this staff (ss#, insurance info) was just a little discomforting. The back rooms are said to be surgical rooms but honestly that seems terrifying as they hardly looked sterile much less orderly. Granted I was there to see Dr. Black so that is not relevant, but still, the whole office was disconcerting. I would be more keen to recommend him if he worked in a different office, so perhaps his other locations are a better place to visit him.
Dr. Black is great. Wonderful treatment, really nice guy, and spot-on adjustments. I've been looking for a decent chiropractor for a while, glad I found Dr. Black
They lied about accepting my insurance
Dr. Black was knowledgable and I enjoyed my first appointment. However, I think he only recently added the Irving Pl. location, and it was a pretty disorganized check-in process. (Granted, I got the feeling the receptionist was playing hooky). Once I was seen by Dr. Black, all went smoothly. Then a week later I returned, and couldn't even get into the office! No one responded to my buzz. I called the office line three times (no answer). Someone let me into the building entryway, but without being buzzed in, the elevator wouldn't allow me to select the floor. I ultimately left a voicemail for Dr. Black and emailed him, too, and haven't heard back. The whole situation felt like a prom date that found a better suitor and dropped me like a bad habit!
Dr Black was very knowledgeable and attentive to my situation. I had injured my neck that morning, made an appointment on my way to work and was seen within a few hours that same day. He identified my issue, treated it and I was well on my way to feeling better by the afternoon. In fact just as I was writing this review he called me to check on how I was feeling- I've been to several chriopractors over the last 10 years for serious injuries and have never had someone call. I'm looking forward to going back and would very highly recommend a visit.
Quick & reliable. Made me feel understood and completely at ease. Highly recommended.
The Fulton street office was very small and wasn't like your traditional doctors office (very small and cramped) Dr. Black was very professional and explained everything very clearly to me.
He's wonderful and I felt better instantly
Dr. Black was very helpful and professional. He alleviated any fears I had about the appointment and was very knowledgeable. I have already recommended him to my work colleagues and would recommend to anyone.
Dr. Black was very knowledgeable and helpful with not only addressing my back pain but in reviewing all my habits that may contribute to it.
The good: Dr. Black made my back feel amazing! He didn't just do a quick adjustment - he relaxed the tight area with electric pads and then he massaged the very tight areas. It was very targeted and helped the pain more than any regular massage I've had before. The adjustment was fine as well. The not-so-good: The office building is a little creepy, and the office space is shared with another doctor. There was no receptionist, the area was cold and loud. The doctor saw two other patients while he saw me so it took quite a while (he apologized about this thought and said it is not usually the case). I was there for over an hour total - some of it was the treatment and some of it was waiting for other patients.
He was very helpful and cured my back and shoulder pain in half an hour.
