Dr. Goral was born and raised in Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Georgetown University in 1975 and completed his M.D. from Georgetown University in 1981. He completed his orthopaedic residency in 1986 at State University of New York at Stony Brook. He served on active duty in the United States Navy at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland as an attending in Orthopaedic Surgery until 1989. He maintains a clinical appointment as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Surgery at The Uniformed Services University for Health Sciences (USUHS). He has served as prior president of the Washington Orthopaedic Society and former chairman of Orthopaedics at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Goral’s interests and expertise is lower extremity reconstruction, inclusive of minimally invasive joint replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, arthroscopy and arthroscopic ligament reconstruction. Dr. Goral is especially concerned about our aging population and the prevention as well as management of Osteoporosis. Dr. Goral frequently lectures on joint replacement and alternatives to surgery for arthritis and bone health. Dr. Goral is the Director of Joint Service at Holy Cross Hospital Spine and Joint Center and has been listed as one of the regions’ “Best Doctors” in the Washingtonian Magazine™ since 1999, and listed in Washington Checkbook ™ for his valued service. Dr. Goral is married with three children and is an active 8-time marathoner, sailor, skier and camper.
