He completed his medical school training at Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. For the next four years he served in the US Air Force in Japan as a Family Doctor. After the Air Force, he has worked in Family Practice offices in Hawaii and New York. In private practice since 1995, he strives to bring personalized, professional care to his patients.
He practices sprinting early in the morning so he can join local track meets to compete with other sprinters in his age group. When he is free, he enjoys playing sports with his son who goes to elementary school in the neighborhood.
After years of practice in Manhattan Dr. Chung has come to the conclusion that there are a few healthcare styles that may keep you healthy or make your life easier.
Routine - Although screening cannot prevent all diseases, regular visits with a doctor you know and who knows you, is the best way to prevent diseases caused by lifestyle. Smoking, weight, lack of exercise, and lipids are basic issues addressed regularly at a Family Doctor’s office.
Practice notice for New Patients:
1. If you are having an annual physical exam and would like to have your blood work done that same day, fast for at least 8hrs.
2. Blood draws are done off-site at a nearby specialized patient service center (1-2 mins walk from the office)

Pleasant and thorough physical. Clean office & the wait was less than 20 min. Highly recommend this office
Professional and caring.
Second time I've seen Dr. Chung. He is professional, practical and thorough. His methods are scientific and empirical. His bedside manner is calm and thoughtful.
Dr. Chung was extremely patient and helpful. He actually listened to me and seemed to take the symptoms the I was describing seriously. It's great to see a doctor who doesn't just drop by for 2 minutes.
Dr. Chung has been my primary doc for the past decade now, and he's great with patients and very knowledgeable. His office is always polite and they have a policy about scheduling appointments only a few days out. So, you don't have to wait weeks to get in. His office is clean and modern and comfortable. Everything is electronic too.
I love Dr. Chung. It's hard to find a doctor that I like in the city as I come from a small suburb in Texas. Dr. Chung makes me feel at home and cared for. I'm so happy that he's so close to my apartment and he's an amazing doctor!
He's the best. I almost don't want to share. ;-)
Good doctor, but remember, City Care Family Practice is first and foremost a business. You must pay your copay before seeing the doctor, you must give them your credit card information so they can bill you first if the insurance company has an issue, and there is a hefty cancellation fee. So if you really need to cancel your appointment, do so before 24 hours prior to your appointment so you don't get fined. They have your card info, they will do it. On the pro side, Dr. Bruce Chung was conscientious and understanding. If he takes that much dedicated time with a patient then yes, there will be a wait. Luckily, not a 2 hour wait, but I did get a few winks waiting for him. He always has his laptop to check on information and he tackles all your issues and questions one by one. On the downside, I will be continuing my search for a regular primary care physician because of Enzo clinical labs. Blood and other tests are not done by the doctor's office. Instead, you'll be routed to go to one of Enzo lab's walk-in facilities. So that's more wait time and another place just to get your tests done. On top of that, I went to Enzo's East 33rd street location which was only manned by one person who was sick, in a sour mood, and was not very courteous to the customers. I left because I didn't want to get stabbed with a needle by a bad tempered person. The whole doctor's visit, including the wait time at Enzo's would have taken over 2 hours. Inconvenient and time consuming.
Dr. Chung was awesome! Very friendly, personal and funny. Great doctor.
Quick and painless as always
I went in for a physical exam ahead of starting business school in a few weeks. Having been in Manhattan three years, this is quite honestly the BEST doctor/patient experience I've had in Manhattan. Dr. Chung and his medical assistant were thorough, helpful and friendly. Not very easy to find at other doctor's offices in the city. Dr. Chung answered all of my questions and made excellent recommendations on maintaining optimal health. I was searching for a doctor who accepted my new insurance and I am glad I discovered him, I will definitely be going back and highly recommend.
Great office, staff, and doctor. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a primary care doctor.
The office is always very efficient and friendly, and the doctor takes time to listen to you and get to know you. He always remembers me when I come in.
Dr. Chung was very personable and nice. I had a physical and he seemed to tick all the boxes properly. Can't really speak to how he would treat symptoms/problems.
Excellent, attentive staff. Dr. Chung was very friendly and answered all my questions.
Good family dr. Short wait. Helpful staff.
Clean, quiet, peaceful office with up to date magazines and a film playing. Very amiable staff that was very easy to work with and felt welcomed. I've finally found my primary physician with Dr. Chung. He has a wonderful bedside manner - kind, approachable, answers all questions, nothing feels rushed and very knowledgeable. I felt like I could really talk with him without feeling hurried or less than. He deeply explained everything and I learned a lot. Very happy to have found him.
Dr Chung and his staff were very efficient and helpful.
Quick and painless. In and out for my follow-up vaccination appointment in no more than 10 minutes.
Dr. Chung is very attentive and explains everything in detail, including teaching you and breaking down the medical terms of your condition. I am annoyed by doctors who just tell you to keep hydrated and get plenty of rest, so I like seeing Dr. Chung since he tells you all you need to know--even if the treatment really is sleep and water.
He was great, no complaints. A long wait, that was the only down side. I will continue to go back to him
Dr. Chung was responsive to all of my questions and attentive to my concerns and symptoms. He and the staff at his office were friendly and seemed to be careful about gathering all information to as much detail as necessary and explaining their reasons for each question and step in the visit. I would recommend this office.
He was thorough and very good.
Felt that Dr.Chung was most attentive and listened patiently to overview of my health questions. The Dr.was respectful in addressing my layman's questions about holistic concerns . I feel l am in good hands and that he will guide me to my optimum goal of continued good health.
Dr Chung is very personable. Spends much time unlike many other doctors. I am going back to him as my primary care!!
Casual and informative. His office staff were professional and warm. Overall I felt very comfortable. This was my firstt visit, but I would like to keep Dr. Chung on as my doctor.
I think I have found my new doctor! After not having insurance for some time, it feels great to feel like I have a doctor in my corner. Great guy, great doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a GP.
The MD was great. He should rethink the way in which they have their schedules booked so tightly. I was 10 minutes late and had to wait nearly 2 hours to be seen (essentially for him to sign a form). The receptionist would not help until I literally walked out of the patient room and told her I was leaving.
He's very professional and takes the time to really explain things to you. You don't feel stressed or panicked and his staff mirrors his exemplary manner. Highly recommend!
Dr. Chung was very personable and professional. His staff was professional and polite, also.
He is absolutely great.
As soon as you walk in clean environment and the girls at front desk very polite. Never have to wait a long period of time. Wonderful. He's a great doctor.
Dr. Chung has been my primary care physician since around '07. He is always very attentive and caring, with a good bedside manner. I generally only go for annual check up's but I'm so happy to have found a doctor that I really like. He's super knowledgeable and isn't all about putting folks on meds..a definite plus.
He was so bad I moved out of state.
Very friendly and calm. I came with lots of questions and Dr. Chung made an effort and took the time to try to answer all of them.
he was quick, efficient and friendly.
The doctor was excellent, patient, and knowledgeable.
He's so organizing, efficient but also did not rush the appointment.
Dr. Chung is wonderful! One of the few doctors that LISTENS to what I am saying and does not talk down to me when explaining something. Highly recommended!
