Professional Statement

In the practice of psychiatry for over 10 years, I am available for consultation in convenient Union Square and Park Slope locations. As a board certified psychiatrist, I have expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions including: depression and bipolar spectrum disorders; anxiety; stress and adjustment problems; OCD; insomnia; ADD/ADHD; maternal mental health (treatment during pregnancy and nursing); and other conditions.

I have extensive experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds, including college and graduate students as well as creative professionals and the range of working adults. Prior to your first appointment, we will speak on the phone to briefly discuss your treatment needs. Initial consultations span 90 minutes and follow-up visits are 45 minutes, so we will have ample time to explore your concerns and determine the best course of treatment. I strive to provide a comfortable experience in which we work to understand your problems, reduce your symptoms, and optimize your functioning. Clients may access me via phone and email between scheduled appointments. For those clients working with a therapist, I communicate with that provider in a collaborative care arrangement.

Psychiatric and psychological conditions typically do not develop overnight and correspondingly take time to resolve. In an effort to practice the highest standard of care, I am extremely careful in my approach to prescribing controlled substances such as sedative-hypnotics (e.g., Xanax, Klonopin, Ambien, etc.) and stimulants (e.g., Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse, etc.). To avoid confusion, please note that I commonly require documentation of formal psychometric testing indicating ADD/ADHD diagnoses prior to prescription of stimulant medication.

Pleasant, nice, patient. Not someone who will immediately put you on medicine. Will work with you. My experience has been quite positive.
