About Dr. David Chu

Dr. David Chu is a Board Certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician who treats patients with non-surgical Orthopedic and Neurologic conditions. Dr. Chu's integrative and multidisciplinary approach begins with establishing the correct diagnosis thru a thorough initial history & physical examination. If necessary, appropriate diagnostic testing such as digital x-rays and electrodiagnostic neuromuscular testing can be completed in the office on the same visit. Holistic and individualized treatment is developed under the collective guidance of Dr. Chu and his team of Board Certified Spine Specialists, Physical Therapists, and Chiropractors. Comprehensive and time-efficient plans will be directed with both short and long term goals in mind. Initial acute symptoms such as inflammation, pain, and muscle spasm can be alleviated quickly with therapeutic ultrasound treatments, manual therapy and stretching, acupuncture, and other minimally invasive procedures. Long term strategies, such as strength training, spinal alignment, and ergonomics are also emphasized throughout to correct and prevent recurrent injuries. Dr. Chu performs peripheral joint injections under ultrasound guidance for various conditions such as osteoarthritis, chronic tendonitis, and bursitis affecting the shoulder, hip, and knee. Acute and Chronic Neck Pain, Back Pain, herniated discs, and pinched nerves are also common conditions that are treated. Dr. Chu completed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Chu received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He is also certified to provide acupuncture as an alternative pain treatment. I can not thank Dr Chu and his entire team enough. They are truly incredible. I have gone from debilitating pain to having very little pain ( we are working on getting to no pain :)) in a few short months. I am truly amazed by him and his bedside manner.

Dr. Chu's office staff are wonderful. I received a call the morning of my appointment to make sure my insurance would actually cover the visit before confirming the appointment. The staff was very friendly and helpful during check in and check out and managing questions I had about obtaining an MRI. Dr. Chu was patient and thorough and responsive to all of my questions and reviewed various options with me. I felt confident at the end of the visit and appreciated his collaborative approach in making decisions about next steps in my work up and care.

Crying while typing. I have never had so much pain, except for when in labor. The first time I met Dr. Chu,he ended our conversation with 6 magical words. He said "Don't worry, I've got you now".Just hearing these words from this man made me cry. I saw Dr. Chu again today and told him how grateful I was for his help and how much his words at our last visit affected me. This man had been upfront straight to the point, kind, understanding and he listens to me. He told me what my issues are, what we have to do, and what I have to do on my own. The support staff is so friendly, patient, and really hands on. The office is bright, and each portion is so smartly organized and open. I have serious trust issues with people in general, I have told this to Dr. Chu, I have also told him why and he understood. One must trust the medical professional in order to receive proper care. I trust Dr. Chu. I trust him completely because he made me feel like my comfort mattered to him. He has set the bar for what should be- how it should be all the time. Thank you Dr. Chu.

I saw Dr Chu yesterday for a shoulder problem I’ve been having. He was very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything clearly. We set out a plan of exercises to help alleviate the pain. The staff was very friendly and made my visit a pleasant experience. I will be seeing him again. Would recommend to friends and family

Dr. Chu was timely and thorough, and I didn’t get the sense that he was just rushing through the interview/exam to move on the the next patient like I’ve experienced with other doctors. He did a great job explaining his reasoning and recommendations. Would definitely come back here again.

I LOVED Dr. Chu, he was very knowledgeable and really sensitive to my physical and emotional pain caused by my injury. He quickly picked up on the fact that I was scared and alone in all this and really walked me through every single step and even set up appointments for me and explained how my insurance could work with all this. Such a professional and classy man. I would highly recommend him and his staff. I felt really comfortable and I felt like somebody really cared and you don’t always get that when you visit a doctor. Not to mention, I had seen a Dr. before and Dr. Chu was the one who actually identified the problem. So happy he's my doctor.

Dr. Chu and his staff were very attentive and friendly... It was my third time seeing him and I was impressed with how much he recalled of my situation and needs. He was very thorough, detailed and extremely professional. But also seemed to genuinely care about my pain and recovery. He gave me his undivided attention, listening to the details of my issues, and had a great balance of being professional yet personable in his diagnosis and recommendations. I'm a HUGE fan!

I finally saw Dr Chu after a coworker's recommendation. On arrival, I was greeting by friendly staff and took my seat after paperwork. The waiting area was very clean and I was taken to a room shortly after. I had a busy day so I was glad to see Dr Chu come in so quickly. He was very professional and knowledgeable, he's clearly had a lot of experience. I will be back to see him again and would recommend him to my friends

I went to Dr. Chu several times and he even treated me for a knee problem (which I still have), but he never knew who I was. You think he could at least review my chart before he came into the room. Everytime I went there he'd ask me the same questions to try to figure out who I was and what I was there for. What a joke!

Overall, an excellent experience. I was in a great deal of pain and could barely walk when I got to his office yesterday, and I am just amazed that I woke up with practically no pain this morning and am able to walk just fine! Dr. Chu also explained everything thoroughly, and he didn't rush at all. On a side note, he is adorable.

I've been looking for a 2nd opinion to help with my current lower back/sciatic pain which has been plaguing me for months. After my last, very disappointing, experience with an orthopedist, I was at a loss of where to go to next. I spent a lot of time looking and reviewing and found Dr. Chu, who received very high marks. And I'm here to add my own. He was very profressional and thorough, asking me questions and taking the time to review the materials I brought to him. He even looked up a past MRI I'd had but didn't have the record for, so he could compare my tests. After reviewing these things, asking me questions and giving me an exam, he plotted out a course of action to help tackle my pain and get me back on track. I'm very hopeful and trust that he will do everything he can to find the root of my issue and address it. Highly recommend!
